LuJean McBride Thompson Surrounded by her loving family, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend LuJean M. Thompson, 68, passed away at her home on December 11, 2002 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a wonderful person and example to us all. We will be eternally blessed for the lessons she taught us, both in her life and in her death. LuJean was born December 1, 1934 in Ogden, to Melba Taylor and Leonard A. McBride. The love story between LuJean and Rex W. Thompson started when they married on September 12, 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Rex has been her sweetheart, best friend, and eternal companion for the past 50 years. A member of the Huntsville 1st Ward and Wilson 2nd Ward, LuJean served faithfully as Young Women President, Teacher, Relief Society President, Chorister, Sunday School Superintendent, Dance Director, and in many other positions. LuJean graduated from Ogden High School and pursued her love and passion for music as an accomplished vocalist and flutist. She participated and competed in many musical performances in church and community. LuJean was a true “my gal Friday” from helping her father run the McBride Family Market to retiring as an accountant from IRS. LuJean had a passion for life, from riding motorcycles across the countryside to snowmobiling, camping and traveling with family and special friends. She loved sharing her talents of cooking, sewing, crocheting, and doll making with others. She served as an active member of Toastmasters and as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. We will always treasure the memory of mom’s radiant smile, soft beautiful skin, and contagious laugh. Her warm, inviting home, love, concern and devotion to the family will be forever in our hearts. She is survived by her eternal husband, Rex, and her children and their spouses, Debbie Rhodes (Greg), Harrisville; Pam Higginson (Rob), Roy; Owen Rex Thompson (Lisa), West Haven; and Justin Earl Thompson (Mandie), Portage. Also surviving are Melba T. McBride (mother), Sidney Wangsgard (sister), Stanley L. McBride (brother), Kathie Robinson (sister), and 12 adored grandchildren.
