His farewell was held October 21 at the Eden II ward. Elder Ryan Starks, son of Steve and Debbie Starks of Eden, has been called to serve in the Quito Ecuador Mission. His farewell was held October 28 at the Eden II Ward. Returning Missionaries Elder Dan Dickson, son of Thomas and Claire Dickson of Huntsville, served in the Texas Houston East Spanish-speaking Mission. He spoke at the Middle Fork Ward on October 28. Weddings James-Smith Karen L. and the late Jerry C. James of Jerome, Idaho announce the marriage of their daughter Julee Marie James to Dustin Bert Smith, son of James B. and Paula Smith of Liberty. The bride is a graduate of Jerome High School, and attended the University of Idaho for two years. She graduated from Boise State University in Elementary Education. She is a Second Grade teacher for Horizon Elementary in Jerome. The groom is a graduate of Weber High School, and attended Weber State University. Dustin manages the family ranch in Montpelier, Idaho. The wedding took place on October 5, 2001 in Jerome, Idaho with a reception following at the Turf Club. There was also an open house for the couple on October 6, 2001 in Ogden, Utah. Sister Katie Dickson, daughter of Doug and Tym Dickson of Liberty, served in the Micronesia Guam Mission. She spoke at the Liberty 2nd Ward on October 28. Elder Justin Kelley, son of Sharon and Dave Beckert of Eden, and the late Jack Kelley, served in the New York Utica Mission. He will speak in the Eden 2nd Ward on November 25 at 2:50 p.m. Elder Daniel Brad Vause, son of Sharon and Brad Vause of Eden, served in the California San Fernando Mission. He will speak in the Eden 1st Ward on November 25 at 10:50 a.m. Births Brian Hayden and Karen Lynn Morgan of Huntsville had a baby girl on October 12. Jeffrey G. and Patricia K. Jones of Eden had a baby boy on October 19. Kyle and Bobbi Lucille Clarke of Huntsville had a baby boy on October 22. Mr. and Mrs. Dustin Smith Bingham-Lynch Mr. and Mrs. S. Duane Bingham of North Ogden announce the marriage of their daughter, Renee Bingham, to Danny Lynch. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lynch of Huntsville. They were wed Saturday, October 13. The ceremony was officiated by Bishop Gary Lund. A reception was held in their honor at a chapel in North Ogden. The bride chose Brook Taggart as her maid of honor, and Shera Lynch as her bridesmaid. Kevin Lynch performed the duties of best man. The couple will live in Ogden, after ATTENTION: their honeymoon in Southern Utah. He is employed by Lowe”s Home Improvement. She graduated from the Applied Technology Center as a medical receptionist. Jensen-Peterson Ray and Genae Jensen of Roy announce the marriage of their daughter, Peggy D. Jensen, to J. Craig Peterson, on Saturday, October 27. He is the son of Beatrice Peterson of Huntsville and the late J. Orville Peterson. The bridegroom graduated from Weber High School, attended Weber State University and served in the England London South LDS Mission. He is self-employed as a bronze sculptor. The bride is a graduate of Ben Lomond High School and attended WSU. She served in the Connecticut Hartford LDS Mission. After a short honeymoon to the mountains, they will make their home in Huntsville. Obituaries Kevin R. Garver Kevin R. Garver passed away in his sleep October 29, 2001. He was born November 11, 1957 in Amarillo, Texas to Wanda and Joe Garver. He grew up in Huntsville, Utah. He married Maureen Nichols and they were blessed with a daughter. They were later divorced. Kevin loved to make people laugh, and will be greatly missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his daughter Nicole; granddaughter Alexis; mother Wanda; brother Kim (Mindy); sisters Shelley (Kenneth) and Shannon (Jimmy). Also nieces and nephews. A celebration of Kevin’s life was held at his brother’s home in Huntsville on November 10. Viola Marian Jensen Fowers Viola Jensen Fowers, 97, passed away peacefully with her daughter and close friends by her side on November 6, 2001. Viola was born on December 31, 1903, in the family home in Huntsville, Utah, to Simon and Mary Jensen. She and her older brother Theodore were raised on the farm her father had homesteaded. She lived on the farm for over ninety years. Viola married Lawrence David Fowers on July 13, 1939, and she was widowed on July 13, 1945. After graduating from high school, Viola completed a two-year college program in one and one-half years to obtain a teaching certificate. She also attended teacher training courses in Berkeley, California at Miss Swope’s Teacher Training School, and graduated with high honors. She taught in the Ogden City School system for fourteen years until she was married. Following her husband’s death, she attended Utah State University and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She then returned to teaching in Ogden, and she taught seventeen years until her retirement. She was certified as a Professional Teacher. Viola was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Olive, because her father was an original Utah Pioneer who came to Utah prior to 1869. For many years she was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Retired Teacher’s Association. Viola is survived by her daughter Marian (Tom) Martin, Billings, Montana; and two granddaughters, Kimberly and Jennifer. Her husband, parents, and brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Interment at the Ogden City Cemetery.
