October 2: 11:30 a.m. WSU Stewart Library Special Collections: The men and women, both faculty and students, who worked so hard to bring Women’s Studies to Weber State University will offer a panel discussion on why and how they helped get this program going. October 3: All morning, WSU Union Building Ballroom: Women’s Studies will join Services for Women Students in offering a Women’s Fair with free information to help women students, as well as women’s health and body image issues. October 3: Ogden Valley Pathways meeting at the Ogden Valley Library, at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend. October 4: 11:30 a.m. WSU Stewart Library Special Collections: Women’s Studies alumni will offer a panel discussion on how their background in Women’s Studies has helped them in their lives and careers since graduating from WSU. October 5: 11:30 a.m. WSU Stewart Library Special Collections: Historian and Pulitzer Prize winning author Laurel Thatcher Ulrich will deliver a speech entitled, “Disappearing Indians and Runaway Wives: Finding History in a Woodsplint Basket,” drawing from her forthcoming book, “The Age of Homespun: Objects and Stories in the Creation of an American Myth.” October 6: Ogden Canyon Fall Clean-up. Volunteers needed to clean-up debris and litter in Ogden Canyon. Meet on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Alaskan Inn. At 12:30 there will be a free luncheon at The Oaks for all volunteers. Bring gloves. October 7: 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Annex 1, west of Dee Events center: The Women’s Studies Program will hold their annual potluck picnic and fund-raising book-sale. October 12: Property Tax meeting with State Senator Dave Gladwell and Representative Joseph Murray at Snowcrest Jr. High (Band Room) at 7:00 p.m. All Weber County property tax payers are urged to come and participate in an open discussion about rising property tax issues.
