Show Volume IV, Issue VI THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 9 July 1, 2001 Ogden Valley Business Association Valley Art School Holds Exhibit at Logo Winners Announced the Ogden Valley Library On 12 June 2001 the OVBA held its awards ceremony at the Alaskan Inn for the Community At Large and Snowcrest Junior High School logo winners. There was a tremendous amount of enthusiasm with approximately 50 entries from Snowcrest and the community. Local artist Julie Brandt, who lives and paints in Liberty, judged the entries. Julie is a member of the Utah Watercolor following prizes: Initial chiropractic exam and treatment valued at $135 from Harper Rocky Mountain Chiropractic in Eden Free oil change from Valley Automotive in Eden $25 gift certificate from Valley Market in Eden And a $25 gift certificate from Ace Hardware in Huntsville William Christiansen’s winning Ogden Valley Business Association logo. Society, the Western Colorado Watercolor Society and the Palette Club of Ogden. Her work can be seen in various shows throughout the Ogden area. Julie said, “Judging the logo contest for the Ogden Valley Business Association was quite an honor. It is exciting to see local businesses come together to promote what our Valley has to offer.” She especially enjoyed the artwork submitted by the Snowcrest Junior Shelby Alhstrom High School students. “I found their work to be fresh, with creative ideas,” Julie said. The overall winner from the Community competition was William Christiansen of Liberty. He received the Honorary mention in the Community At Large category were Lynn Young of Some of the Valley Art students with their instructor William Allport. Valley Art School held its year-end exhibit on May 11, 2001 at the Ogden Valley Library in Huntsville. Oil paintings were shown by William Allport the instructor. Charcoal drawings by students Nick Allport, Kaitlyn Allport, Logan Barnes, Parker Hansen, Connor Heatherly, Devon Hoxer, Hayden Hoxer, Hunter Shelby Alhstrom’s winning logo. Pineview Round-Up Liberty and Shelly Verhaal of Huntsville. The Student winner from Snowcrest was Shelby Alhstrom. She was awarded a $50 savings bond from Wells Fargo Bank in Eden, and a nice certificate from the OVBA. Honorable Mention winners in the Student Category were Tiffany Parkinson, Megan Lee, Michael Bodily, Taylor Mehelie, and Katie Jackson. The Oaks Restaurant in Ogden Canyon donated a free ice cream cone for every person who participated in our logo contest. These coupons can be picked up at the Farmers Insurance/Great American Realty Building located at 5404 E. 2200 N. in Eden. Local artists, Lynette Oberg and Jami Wilson, exhibited watercolors and Wanda Ahlstrom rounded out the show with an original quilt.
