Pathways from the Weber Area Council of Governments (WACOG). WACOG provides political support to efforts such as this when grants are sought. Workshop attendees worked enthusiastically with colored highlighters in hand for 90 minutes. Working together, they generated ideas for potential pathway routes, amenities, activity nodes, sensitive areas, trailheads, pathways opportunities and challenges. Each subgroup marked up a base map and presented their top three issues to the audience. Topics and issues were diverse. They included: areas potentially threatened by conflicting future uses; equestrian trails combined with walking and biking trails; trails along rivers; the old Trapper’s Loop Road; Ogden Canyon; restroom locations; sensitive bird nesting areas; bus stops at trailheads; roller blading areas near Valley schools; highway crossing safety near Chevron in Huntsville; restoring access to historic trails; better signage for trails in North Fork and Eden; and written policies to alleviate property owners’ concerns. There is still a chance to provide input to the Master Plan. The committee will present the results of this workshop and a draft Master Plan on August 23, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ogden Valley Library. The committee will welcome additional feedback at that time. The public may also attend any of the regularly scheduled monthly meetings to be held at 7 p.m., also at the Library. Meetings for the rest of this year are slated for August 29, October 3, November 7 and December 5. You can contact Weber Pathways at their mailing address: WEBER PATHWAYS PO BOX 972 OGDEN UT 84401 Or at their web-site address: www.weberpathways.org.
