Scheduled events include: Black Powder Shoot. using black powder guns, the same type of guns that were used in the early 1800’s. ® Knife and Tomahawk throw. Throwing knife and hawks to compete against other, and sometimes different targets. ® Frying pan toss. Here the wives or girlfriends get to throw a frying pan at a man just for the “heck” of it. The winner comes the closest without actu- is shot out of a cannon into the air. The children run and gather the candy as fast as they can. Please plan on attending. The Heritage of Utah Cooking A Book Signing & Food Tasting event at Rainbow Gardens will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2000, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., At the event, the Salt Lake and Ogden Junior Leagues will be at Rainbow Gardens at the mouth of Ogden Canyon presenting their new cookbooks, and offering samples of a variety of recipes from their releases. Dutch oven cooking by Red Rock Ranch of Huntsville, fruity Holleeberry jams and recipes from the famous Utah Cook Book (Mormon Muffins and More) will also be offered complimentary to the public. This convivial literary look at the “what’s new” for all of your summer dining and Ogden Pioneer Days celebrations cook-outs will be held along with the Promenade of the refreshing Rainbow Gardens.
