Show Volume II, Issue XI THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 17 1 June 2000 Ogden Canyon Clean-up a Success By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Staff On May 13 almost 100 friends and neighbors gathered together on a beautiful spring day, donating part of their weekend to do some spring cleaning in Ogden Canyon where litterbugs that drive up and down the scenic byway contribute almost a dump truck full of garbage to the community within a short six month period. The energetic and enthusiastic volunteers participated by collecting about every reflection of modern-day society from the 21 century for disposal at the Weber County Transfer Station. In addition to the biannual tradition of cleaning up the canyon visitors’ garbage, the crew worked to eradicate the Dyers Woad that has begun to crop up along the roadside and the side slopes of the canyon. A continental breakfast kicked off the event. The many hands made the clean up quick and bearable. The events concluded with an extraordinary barbecue lunch at The Oaks, which made for a not only bearable, but great morning. Thanks go to all of the participants and the many local business owners who provided gifts for the after lunch drawing. All ages get involved in the Ogden Canyon Clean-up. Getting ready to clean-up.
