This year the location has changed Real Estate, Moose Hollow Homeowner’s Association, along with Lewis Homes, Inc. cordially invite you to the Third Annual Local Art Night at Après Ski from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The exhibit will be held in the Wasatch Room at The Club at Wolf Creek Resort located at 3844 N. Wolf Creek Dr. in Eden. Nicole Householder stated, “This is the third year having this event. It really started from having an interest in art, and having so many friends who are artists. I wanted to celebrate the local artists of our valley and show my appre- because last year it was a little crowded, so we have moved it to the Wasatch Room at Wolf Creek Resort.” Artists who have accepted the invitation to exhibit include Paige Barth, Terrece Beesely, Kevin Parson, Ingrid Sanchez, Kwani Winder, Gina Weitor, Mike and Jean Kluk, Saraih Wight, John Huerta, and Sheryl Brown. Weber Pathways Announces its 13th Annual Author Dinner Fundraiser Weber Pathways is excited to feature awardwinning writer Craig Johnson at this year’s 13th-annual Author Dinner. This exciting event will be held Friday, March 11 at The Timbermine restaurant located at 1701 Park Blvd. in Ogden. “Presentation: “Writing the Range: My Life With Sheriff Walt Longmire.” Craig Johnson is the New York Times bestselling author of the Walt Longmire mystery novels, which are the basis for Longmire, the hit Netflix original drama. The Cold Dish won Le Prix du Polar Nouvel Observateur/Bibliobs. Death Without Company, the Wyoming Historical Association’s Book of the Year and Le Prix 813, and Another Man’s Moccasins was the Western Writers of America’s Spur Award Winner, the Mountains & Plains Book of the Year, and the winner of the SNCF Prix de Polar. The Dark Horse, the fifth in the series, was a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year and Junkyard Dogs won The Watson Award for a mystery novel with the best sidekick. Hell Is Empty, selected by Library Journal as the Best Mystery of the Year, was a New York Times best seller, as was As the Crow Flies, which won the Rocky for the best crime novel typifying the western United States. Johnson’s success is celebrated in an annual festival in Buffalo, Wyoming called Longmire Days. The author himself, as well as many of the actors and (on occasion) the publishers and producers, attend this huge event. Close to 10,000 people visit this small town (the real life inspiration for Durant) to meet Craig and celebrate his success. Johnson lives in Ucross, Wyoming, population twenty-five. Andersen, has worked his entire career with the LDS Church in personal and career development in the U.S. and Latin America. He is the author of three books on the remarkable faith and righteousness of Abraham Lincoln and of his connections with the early Mormon Church. Workshops are for the public and costs are minimal, thanks to generous funding from the Weber County RAMP program. Three successful workshops have been held in 2016: Basic Drawing with Jennifer Sorensen; Guitar: Back to Basics with Austin Weyand; and Songwriting with award-winning singer-songwriter Cosy Sheridan. Don’t miss upcoming workshops: Painting with Acrylics facilitated by professional artist Paige Barth on March 19, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ($20/person, includes lunch and supplies); and Watercolors with Marita Hart on April 16, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. ($20/person includes lunch and supplies). Mountain Arts and Music also hosts the Open Studio, which features both art and music, held on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Eden Community Center. Artists bring their projects in progress to work on. They receive encouragement, ideas, and motivation from other artists and an art instructor who provides guidance and instructions. Every Open Studio also includes a music circle/ jam. Musicians of all levels and all instruments are welcome to come play with others, share their tunes, and learn new ones. The artists get serenaded and the musicians get an opportunity to play with others. It is a very fun evening for everyone! Open Studio/Music Circle starts at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come listen and sing along. Finally, don’t forget to stop by the ART SPACE: A Gallery of Ogden Valley Creativity at the Eden Center (across from the post office). Local artists have their work on display and for sale. Come out and support the amazing talent in the valley. In conjunction with Simply Eden and Into Fruition, also at Eden Center, the ART SPACE will host Open Houses from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on March 18, April 15, May 6, and all day on June 18. Michelle Evans and Sondra Hansen showcased their Spring 2016 collection, and Charlotte Evans, author of the juicyhuman.com health and wellness blog, gave a presentation on secrets to slimness. |
