Show Page 6 The Ogden Valley news Volume XXII Issue VII June 1, 2014 Announcements Obituaries Wilbur H. Berrett December 12, 1919 ~ May 12, 2014 Wilbur H. Berrett, 94, passed away on May 12, 2014 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on December 12, 1919 in North Ogden, Wilbur H. Berrett Utah, to Marlon H. and Stella Barker Berrett. On Oct. 16, 1940, he married the love of his life, Doris Hill, in The Salt Lake LDS Temple. During World War II, he worked for the Red Cross in San Francisco, then returned to settle in North Ogden, Utah where he and Doris raised 4 children. He worked for First Security Bank for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He was vice-president and manager of the northern division mortgage loan department. He was a president of the Utah Mortgage Bankers Association. Upon his retirement, the Ogden newspaper Business Editor dubbed him Northern Utah’s Mr. Mortgage. He provided financing as well for significant real estate-recreational developments in Bear Lake, Ogden Valley, Brian Head, Terry Lynn Jones 1937 ~ 2014 Terry Lynn (Telford McBride) Jones passed away peacefully in her sleep on Mother’s Day. We could not think of a better present for her on this special day as we celebrate her return to our Heavenly Father; Robert Terry Lynn Jones and Wanda Telford, her parents; Milt Jones, her eternal companion; and other family and loved ones. She lived a life worthy of the presence of the Father. Terry’s six children were from her first marriage to Michael McBride. Her children, Mike (Rani), Jon (Jane), James (Wendy), Robert (Amy), Daniel (Darlene), and Suzette love and cherish their mother. Terry’s marriage and sealing to Milt brought his loved four children into her life: Jim (Beverly), Russ (Nadine), Julie (Steve), and Kristie. She has 30 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her six siblings: Robert, Richard, Paul, Ted, Michael, and Kathryn. Terry’s church service included pianist, organist, choir director, Primary President and and Ogden City. He was a Range Officer for the Wasatch Shooters Association. Randy was an avid outdoorsman and loved the mountains, lakes, and especially fly-fishing streams. He loved to ski and was a ski instructor at Snow Basin in his younger years. He loved to hunt, fish, hike, camp, and teach his children and the youth of his ward his passion for outdoor activities and enjoying God’s magnificent creations. As a child, he was a little rascal; as an adult, Randy was always willing to serve oth- years. He could be seen every summer in a favorite activity, astride a tractor, as he was instrumental in the success of our extensive harvesting efforts. In later years, as his health began to fail, Brother Carl’s care for us was returned by our care for him, in our Monastery infirmary and in professional healthcare facilities. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Monastery, 1250 S. 9500 E., Huntsville, Utah, under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Ogden. Interment at the Monastery Cemetery. ers. He greatly loved his grandmother and selflessly devoted himself to caring for her in her later years. He currently was caring for his mother with steady patience and vigilant attention. He held his extended family together by carrying on many holiday traditions with his delicious cooking. He utilized the same diligence and passion for feeding people excellent food in his latest position as the Director of Dining Services at Country Pines Retirement Community in Clinton. He loved to teach his culinary skills to his children, nieces, those who he employed, and any others who sought knowledge and expertise from him. At the end of Thanksgiving dinner, he never once failed to say, “It takes two days to prepare and 15 minutes to eat.” He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son. He not only left a huge hole in his family, but also in his ward family and community. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Eddie; son, Christopher Randall Thorsted; daughters, Kathryn Anne (Richard) May, Dannelle (Ryan) Holding, and Erika (Rodney) Biggs; three grandchildren; mother, Alice Thorsted Cawley; sisters, Laney Lamie, Alison (Jerry) Wilhelmi; and his cherished nieces, Dani, Emily, and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and niece Noelle. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Pleasant View 11th Ward Chapel, 500 W. 3100 N.
