By Jenny Waldrip, April Storey, & Wendy McKay The Ogden Valley Tennis Association (OVTA), and the wonderful tennis courts at Snowcrest Jr. High, are beckoning tennis players of all skill levels. Tennis is a sport you can play your whole life. The best way to learn and improve is to be taught the correct skills, and play as often as you can. If you or your children want to learn how to play tennis, sharpen existing skills, or get some exercise in the sun, sign up for OVTA Summer Tennis Clinics. Participants may sign up for one session, or multiple sessions for tennis action all summer. Clinics are also a great venue to meet others with an interest in tennis. Optional tournament play during off weeks will be offered for participants to lay down muscle memory with their newly learned skills. The Ogden Valley Tennis Association will be scheduling four, one-week sessions. They will be available for $25 per session, with a multiple child discount. Mark your calendars for the weeks of June 2, June 23, July 7, and July 14. More sessions may be added. Each session will include three, one-andhalf hour classes, taught on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. In case of rain cancellation, lessons will be made up on Friday. Clinics will be held from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., and 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Your clinic time will depend on age and skill level. Registrants will be grouped in class sizes of five to eight. Register for lessons now at <OgdenValleyTennis@gmail.com> Please include the following information: parents’ name (if youth), name of participant, age, beginning or intermediate, session date or dates interested in, and phone number. Also, because of our association with the USTA, they will be sponsoring a free play day with professionals from their association to teach more skills and spread the love of tennis. Watch for more information on this in upcoming papers. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Jenny Waldrip at 801-745-8399 or April Storey at 801-675-6251. Zions Bank Anticipates SBA Rule Change Will Improve Access to Capital for Utah Entrepreneurs Utah entrepreneurs should have improved access to capital in light of recent modifications to the two main loan programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBA has published a final rule on the Federal Register that eliminates or revises several requirements for its 7(a) and 504 loan programs. The changes, which took effect April 21, eliminate the personal resource test for 7(a) loans and the nine-month rule for the 504 loan program. “As a result of this rule change, we expect to see an increased number of businesses who qualify for SBA-guaranteed funding,” said Cece Mitchell, senior vice president and SBA lending manager for Zions Bank, which has been the SBA 7(a) Lender of the Year in the Salt Lake District for the past 20 consecutive years. “This translates to better access to capital for small businesses. That’s important because small businesses are key drivers of economic growth and the principal source of new jobs.” Mitchell noted that previously, the personal resource test adversely affected legitimate small businesses who had received outside support— from venture capital, an angel investor or a family member—and, in some cases, kept them from obtaining an SBA loan to start or expand their business. Mitchell said that the change will also eliminate a time-consuming step in the application process, enabling lenders of all sizes to improve the efficiency of their SBA loan product delivery. Mitchell is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, which serves the needs and represents the interests of the small business lending community that utilizes SBA business loan programs. She authored a statement supporting elimination of the personal resource test submitted by Zions Bancorporation, the SBA RULE CHANGE cont. on page 8 The 2013 Consumer Confidence Report for Nordic Mountain Water Inc. is available for review in our office located at 4794 E. 2600 N. in Eden, Utah.
