Young were united in marriage December 15, 2012 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Logan Temple. A reception was Chase and Taylor Hunter held in their honor that evening at the Riter Mansion in Logan. A luncheon was held afterward at the Riverwoods. The bride is the daughter of Tim and Rhonda Hunter of Providence. She is a graduate of Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum and LDS Seminary. She plans to obtain a degree in cosmetology the summer of 2013. Parents of the bridegroom are Denny and Corby Young of Eden. He graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary. He served in the Finland Helsinki LDS Mission from 2008 to 2010. He attends Utah State University in Logan, pursuing a degree in civil engineering. He is employed by Marker Construction. The new couple will live in Ogden after their cruise to the Caribbean. Myrika and Jacob Hawes Martin – Hawes Myrika Leigh Martin and Jacob Matthew Hawes were united in marriage January 19, 2013 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. A reception was held that evening in their honor at the white LDS church house in Eden. A second reception will be held in Minnesota on April 27, 2013. The bride is the daughter on Mike and Brenda Martin of Eden. Parents of the bridegroom are Thomas and Faye Hawes of Crystal, Minnesota. She is attending Utah Valley University majoring in Biology and Chemistry. He is attending BYU, studying accounting and business. He served in the California Fresno mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The new couple will live in Provo while they finish school. The couple will honeymoon in California. Norman James Montgomery, 84, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father January 10, 2013 at his peaceful and dear Norman home in Huntsville, Utah. Montgomery He was born January 27, 1928 in North Ogden, Utah, a son of Leland James and Ellen Lucille Harrison Montgomery. Norman married his sweetheart Joyce Ferrell Montgomery January 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. President David O. McKay performed the ceremony. In his youth, Norman worked hard on the farm and attended Huntsville School and Weber High School. He also attended Utah State University. He loved playing basketball, and continued playing into his 60’s. He loved his Father in Heaven and his Savior Jesus Christ. He lived honorably and faithfully in every respect. He was an active member of the Middle Fork Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served as a missionary in British Isles, and in many other capacities, including in youth organizations, the Sunday School, as Stake Mission Leader, and as a faithful home teacher and Bishop. Norman was a very kind, generous, and loving man. He was never known to have said a negative word about anyone. He was a Birthdays Athlene Greenwell Fenno Schade Fenno Schade of Huntsville celebrated his 90th birthday. Family and friends attended an open house in his honor on January 18 at the Lorin Farr Stake Center. He was born January 14, 1923 in Huntsville to Adam W. and Lily Schade in a two-story log cabin early in the mornFenno Schade ing. He had two brothers and two sisters. He married his sweetheart Marian Stevens June 20, 1945 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. She died in 2009 after more than 64 years of marriage. He grew up in the Ogden Valley and moved to Ogden in 1942. He worked at Defense Depot Ogden for more than a year and later at Ed Jensen’s Service Station. He served in the Northern States LDS Mission from March 1946 to 1948. He came home and worked in a few places. In February 1949 he began work for Cream ‘O Weber as a salesman in retail. He retired in 1985 after 36 years. He says that his life has been wonderful— “Busy all my life with church assignments, and still am.” His children are Jolene Romo (deceased) and Paul F. Schade. He has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Athlene McFarland Greenwell of West Weber celebrated her 90th birthday at a family dinner held in her honor on January 13. She was born January 14, 1923 in Taylor to Lawrence and Margaret Green. She married Dean L. Athlene Greenwell McFarland May 25, 1942 in Preston, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple. He died March 9, 1973. She then married Lewis Greenwell in 1983. He died December 15, 2000. She attended schools in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School in 1940. She has held many LDS Church positions, including ward organist, Primary and Mutual teachers, Relief Society secretary, and also served on the Primary stake board. Her hobbies include bowling, doing wordsearch puzzles, camping, and spending time with family. She has lived in West Weber for the last 71 years. Her two sons and spouses are Dennis and Char McFarland, and Ron and Karen McFarland. She has five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous stepchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Droubay Salt Lake broadcast personality and executive Paul R. Droubay died Monday, January 14 after a prolonged illness. He was 86. Paul was a broadcast innovator, radio station owner, television personality, prominent businessman, and community supporter. Above all, he had unwavering dedication to his wife and three boys. Even as he struggled desperately with his health, he would greet them with a compliment, a smile, a strong handshake, and ask how he could help them. Paul was born and spent his early years on a beautiful ranch in Erda, Utah where he developed his lifelong love of horseback riding. He attended East High School, earned a BA from the University of Utah, and served as a flight engineer in the U.S. Air Force. Paul began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey in Idaho, and was on the air at KLIX TV in Twin Falls. He moved on to join the “Fabulous Five” at KLUB Radio in Salt Lake, where he originated live ski reports from local resorts, and interviewed prominent newsmakers and personalities of the day including Johnny Mathis, Liberace, and President Harry Truman. Paul later became sports director for KUTV, then account executive at KWIC Radio, and did talent for TV advertisers, and commentary for the Utah Stars TV broadcasts. Paul was co-owner of KSXX radio, which was hard worker and taught his children in a quiet loving way—by example. He loved his dear Huntsville farm and spent long hours working and caring for the ground and milking cows. He worked and retired from the Weber School District as a bus driver and developed lifelong friendships with the kids. He enjoyed the basic good things in life and wanted nothing more than happiness and joy for his family. He was a good neighbor and friend, and was dearly loved by all who knew him. He was a member of the Weber County Farm Bureau where he served two terms as President. He was on the East Huntsville Township planning commission, and served as President and Water Master of Mountain Canal Irrigation Company. He served on the board of Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, and two terms as its president. Norman is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years, Joyce F. Montgomery; four children: Ronald J. (Jeanie) Montgomery, Huntsville; Julie (John) Lund, Huntsville; Linda (David) Knowles, Huntsville; Larry (Denise) Montgomery, Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Eleanore (Raymond) Jones, Charlene Grover, LeeAnn (Mark) Fuller, Anita (Glaydon) Ferrin, Judy (Bob) Poll, Fran (John) Oliver, Neva (Ross) Wangsgard, Rhea (Bryan) Schade, and brother Dennis (Kathy) Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Beverly Montgomery; a brother, Harrison Montgomery; and sister, Jean Wangsgard. Funeral services were held Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Huntsville Stake Center. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. one of the first full-time talk stations in the country. He and his business partner operated a broadcasting school that launched careers for many. He became sole owner and manager of KDAB B101 Radio in Ogden (now KBER). He took on a goliath challenge and won a decision at the U.S. Court of Appeals to revise FCC regulations on transmitter locations for the purpose of improving the signal to the city of license. That monumental decision changed the radio industry throughout the country. He was on the board of directors of Utah Broadcasters Association, served as president of the Twin Falls and Salt Lake Exchange Clubs, president of the Salt Lake Chamber Salt Shakers (where he was instrumental in the start-up of the Jordan River Parkway project), founder of the Ogden Chamber Spikers, and member of the Knights of the Round Table. He had a commitment to the public service aspect of radio broadcasting that was uniquely strong. Paul cherished his friends and enjoyed great times at the Salt Lake Tennis Club, Canyon Racquet Club, Ogden Racquet Club, Ogden Country Club, and Rio Verde Country Club. Paul was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He married his wife June Geer (Kappa Kappa Gamma) 63 years ago. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Don and Mary Shields Droubay and sisters Lucille Mower, Donna Purnel, and Nola Droubay. Paul is survived by his wife, June; his three sons Greg (Jennifer), Mike (Rosie), Don; two adoring grandchildren, Paul Droubay and Johanna Droubay (Steve Anderson); and great-granddaughter Della. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to your favorite charity. A celebration of his life was held Saturday, January 26 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary in Salt Lake City.
