For more information, visit <www.ovba.org> February’s Ogden’s 1st Friday Art Stroll Features Reception at Gallery 25 Gallery 25 is honored to host the Palette Club of Ogden’s “small works competition” with a reception open to the public Friday, February 1 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with refreshments hosted by Gallery 25 and the Palette Club of Ogden. The Palette Club of Ogden was organized in 1943 to encourage artists and advance community interest in visual art. Club members still have the same goals 70 years later. Approximately 100 members of the club are spread from Bountiful to Logan, and range in ability from beginner to master professionals. The artists meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the South Ogden Senior Center, for demonstrations of art techniques and lectures on related topics. Several times a year, members organize art exhibits and competitions. Gallery 25 is located at 268 Historic 25th Street in Ogden. Gallery also features the current art of Gallery 25 resident artists Lucille Chamberlain, Keith Dabb, Keith Dagley, Carol Fielding, Pam Hains, Darlene Hamblin, Phil Hopkins, Mac Stevenson, Kristina Wilson, and Doug Wride. Mali native Habib Koité is the heir to an ancestral knowledge set to song that places him among the most influential voices of contemporary Africa and a true 20th century griot. Eric Bibb absorbed some of his prodigious talents from his family upbringing, as he is the godson of Paul Robeson and son of folkie Leon Bibb. Bibb is part of a new generation of blues-men without renouncing the legacy of folk and gospel. The two join forces in an evening of transatlantic blues. Koité is an internationally loved blues, jazz, and pop listeners worldwide, while Bibb performs an uplifting and positive legacy of blues, folk, and gospel. Together they are Brothers in Bamako—combining cultures and music for an evening of true worldclass guitar. Koité and Bibb will perform February 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Browning Center for the Performing Arts.
