USA CYCLING Lindi Pratt and Melanie Eyres practice Shakeout drill held at Zions Bank. After the hypothetical shaking stopped at the school, students lined up in their classrooms and were led outside to the back of the school in an earthquake drill on April 17. Students were accounted for, then were led round the school as if they were going to walk towards the Huntsville Utah LDS Stake Center that is located about a quarter of a mile directly east of the school. While in this drill the students stopped before leaving the school property, In the event the school was severely damaged, students would be evacuated to the church center. OLD VALLEY SCHOOL cont. from page 1 shared their favorite memories about their time at Valley School.” Kera stated, “I have included yearbook pictures from every yearbook I could get my hands on. The first year recorded in the book goes back to 1937. It also includes information and pictures all the way up to 2009, when the school finally closed its doors to the students of Ogden Valley. I was able to locate old school scrapbooks, and included written accounts from past student body historians. In many cases, these records were handwritten, so I typed up the names and information as they originally appeared, doing minimal editing to ensure that the voice of the student authors wasn’t lost. “In many of the yearbooks, no captions were included with pictures, so the next step in my project was doing some pretty extensive detective work to identify all the mystery people. Most of those shown within the book’s pages have been identified; however, a few are still missing. If you know who unidentified people are, or if your class is not represented within this new release, please contact me with the missing information for a possible second addition print- ing at some time, or just so this information can be captured and not lost once and for all.” In conclusion, Kera added, “I would like to thank Valley Elementary School, Snowcrest Junior High School, The Huntsville Historical Library, The Ogden Valley News, and the countless community members who contributed their time and knowledge to this project.” If you would be interested in obtaining a copy of the book, “The Many Faces of a Bulldog,” you can find copies for sale at Valley Market.
