I just have to be sure that everyone in Ogden Valley knows how truly luck we are to have the high caliber of children’s program that High Altitude Kids has given us. I tell family and friends repeatedly how blessed I feel to not only have not have to drive to Ogden for my children’s programs, but that the ones offered to us up here are first class. From the most amazing karate instructor Adam, daycare facilities, preschool and playschool programs for the younger kids and the fact they offer summer camps and swimming lessons—it’s simply wonderful! Chandra and Chantel are always such a pleasure to work with and know each child in their programs personally. My kids are always so excited to go to their classes with their great instructors. Thanks High Altitude for providing an exceptional program for my children! Jori Torman, Eden America Should Walk Closer to Jesus America has helped other countries in wars and we should step back and help the U.S. Let’s look at our states that have problems. Living paycheck to paycheck is not good for Americans. Wealthy people don’t worry about the next pay check. The Constitution says, ‘’We the people,” yet it seems politicians are getting the big paychecks. We have high prices in gas because of issues in Egypt and the Middle East. The money we give to these countries is to keep our foreign affairs going well. When will America walk closer to Jesus? Remember, W.W.J.D., which means, ‘’What would Jesus do?” We should go to I Corinthians, 13-4-7, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily What a Great Dew Tour! Thirst for more dew tour DEW TOUR? Then check out <www.snowrev. com> A very respected and heavily-used snowboard website often used by pro riders and people in the industry, it has lots of great photos and commentaries from the recent dew tour. PRO photographer, and good friend, George Crosland got many beautiful shots and I was lucky enough to post a few picks as well. What a GREAT DEW TOUR ! THANKS! Dennis Maher, Eden angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” We should bring back the U.S. with Jesus as the guiding light. Carolyn Granados, Eden UDOT Construction Report The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists of the following road construction and maintenance activities that may cause traffic impacts in the state’s Northern Region. In Ogden, from March 10 through March 17, UDOT will be working on utility installations and reconfiguring of the right lanes of 20th Street (SR-104), and the intersection of 20th and Wall Avenue (SR-204) is underway in preparation for the opening of a new shopping center at that location. The right lanes of both 20th Street and Wall Avenue may be restricted from time to time, and turning from Wall Avenue to west bound 20th Street may be tighter than usual. Motorists are encouraged to be watchful for workers and equipment adjacent to open lanes of traffic, and use caution on this area. Young Men Give Up Morning of Skiing To Help New Friend Last week we had the great fortune of spending some time in Eden, Utah. The scenery, the snow, the skiing were all magnificent but what really impressed me were the people and especially the kindness of two young men. On Saturday, February 26, we woke to snow and were advised that we should not drive to Powder Mountain and opted for the shuttle. It was packed so we split up and our son Lars sat farther away from us. Two local boys, Bridger and Jesse, struck up a conversation with Lars and by the time we made it to the top of the road, they were fast friends. When we got our tickets Lars asked if he could ski with his new friends. Since he is an excellent skier and had already spent a couple of days at the mountain learning the lay of the land, we said yes. He agreed to meet us at lunchtime. I never gave it a second thought until I went in for lunch and he was not there. I got reports from several people that Lars had lost a ski in the powder and he could not find it. It came off on the first run under the Paradise lift and he had been digging for a couple of hours. But the incredible part of the story, and the part that really struck me as amazing, was the fact that his two new “friends” stayed with him. One of them even went to get a shovel and came back to continue digging. Several other people saw them from the chair lift and stopped to help on their way down. Finally, after two and a half hours, they gave up and Lars made his way down the mountain to meet us. Later that day, another skier found the ski and it was returned to Lars. The rest of the vacation we were reminded several times of the young men who gave up a morning of skiing to help a new friend find a ski that meant so much to him as it had been a Christmas gift and a ski he had yearned for but did not ask for. As parents, we are often told when our children do not live up to the expectations of society but we do not always get to hear about the times our kids shine. So to the parents of Bridger and Jesse, I just want to let you know that on that day, your boys shone. Lars spent the afternoon and next day looking for them to say “thank you,” but he did not find them, so I wanted to write this letter to say THANK-YOU! I hope you see this. You have two great kids. Glen and Deb Lauersen, York, Maine PS: If Bridger or Jesse calls looking for info about Lars he would love to give them his phone number. It is 207-216-0524 and they can text him or call. |
