And in our valley, we have a unique opportunity to enjoy Christmas music from our own women’s singing group—the Ogden Valley Chordettes. Each Christmas season, the Chordettes offer up a free Christmas concert, featuring contemporary, as well as the great classic Christmas songs we all know and love. It is sure to bring the true spirit of Christmas to each member of your family. So, this year, be sure to attend! Hosted by Ruth and Dave Martin at the Hearthside in Eden, two evening concerts are being offered. The first will be held Sunday, December 12; the second, Monday, December 13. Both will begin at 7:00 p.m. This year’s concert features two special musical groups, a concert orchestra and a male chorus participating with selections from Handel’s Messiah, as well as favorites such as Silver Bells, Breath of Heaven, and Christmas Medleys for all ages. Plan on attending and enjoying this gift of music, and feel the true spirit of Christmas. Audience Favorite: WSU Guitar Ensemble The Weber State University Department of Performing Arts presents the WSU Guitar Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 29 in the Allred Theater, Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts. The WSU Guitar Ensemble is directed by Todd Woodbury. This concert is free, and it is open to the public. Children 8 years and older are welcome to attend. This program often plays to a full house. Arrive early to guarantee a place in the audience. This year’s fall concert will feature the music of Renaissance composers befitting the season. Ensemble combinations such are guitar quartets, trios and solos will be included. Other featured composers include Villa-Lobos, Granados, and Tarrega. Annual Christmas Carol “Sing-In” Slated Plan on attending this year’s annual Christmas Carol “Sing-In.” This traditional favorite will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010 inside the Ogden LDS Tabernacle, located at 21st Street and Washington Boulevard. This Christmas sing-in will begin at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The audi- ence sings traditional, familiar, and favorite carols of Christmas. Guest conductor this year is Karsten Longhurst, a Weber High School graduate who is now Choral Music Director at Ogden High School. At the pipe organ is Lowell Marriott Harrop. Pianist is Michael Sansone. Narrator is Casey Coleman. Admission is free.
