For the past 20 years, the Ogden City Fire Department has provided paramedic services to the Upper Valley. This arrangement was based on an agreement between Weber County, Ogden City, and the Weber Fire District. This arrangement permitted Ogden City to place a single paramedic ambulance in Weber Fire District’s Eden station. And, for the most part, this ambulance provided the bulk of the Upper Valley’s paramedic and ambulance services. A small change to this occurred in 2008 when, in order to ensure that a back-up to Ogden’s ambulance was established, the Weber Fire District was allowed to place a much- needed ambulance in service at their Huntsville station. This unit was used for times of high call volume or as needed, should Ogden’s ambulance be unavailable. So what changed? The simple fact is, the time came for the District to assume this service. Again, through a cooperative effort with Ogden City and Weber County, as well as Representative Brad Dee who administers the county’s Paramedic Mill Levy program, the right decision was made to transition this paramedic ambulance service back to the Weber Fire District (who had held this service prior to 1996). This new agreement will allow the District to fully staff two Upper Valley ambulances with a Paramedic and an Advanced EMT. This arrangement will improve services to our areas by allowing for a closest response model to all PARAMEDIC cont. on page 8 Local Artist Seth Hadlock Featured on Cover of National Magazine Seth Hadlock was commissioned to draw Seth, along the cover for the February issue of Rodeo News with his wife magazine and was featured in an article about and two kids, his artwork. spends his winHadlock was born and raised in Liberty, ters taking care and has spent his life working with animals. of animals and He works on a cattle ranch with his granddad, working on his raises horses and beef and corriente cows with art. What a Difference Six Years Can Make Becky Wood of Huntsville sent these pictures in to show the contrasting snow levels between photos taken in January of this year and January of 2008. Wood states, “The photograph on the right was taken this year, next to my home; the second, from the same spot in January 2008. We had so much snow that year that the snowbanks grew to over ten feet tall. My niece Olivia is shown on the mountainous pile after scaling to the top.” |
