Show The Ogden Valley news Page 14 Volume XV Issue VII March 15, 2008 Dancing With the Sixth Graders! On Friday, March 21, Snowcrest Junior High and Valley Elementary will be in session to make up for the school day canceled because of snow. This would have been a spring vacation day. Snowcrest will be running a 7:40 - 12:00 schedule and Valley will run a Wednesday schedule. By Brooklyn Bosworth, 6th grade student reporter Valley Elementary sixth grade students had to learn how to dance for the wonderful sixth-grade Valentine’s Day dance! Mr. Weight was the students’ dance teacher. He taught the basics of dancing—like the Fox Trot. Some of the students’ parents volunteered to help out at the Valentine dance. They decorated the gym where the dance takes place every year. The event would have made a great TV show! The sixth graders are good dancers thanks to Mr. Weight, who we’d like to send a big thank you to. Thank you Mr. Weight, from the Valley Elementary sixth graders! Snow Make-Up Day for Valley Schools Valley Elementary Students Celebrate Dr. Seuss Day! By Montana Wayment 6th Grade News Reporter Carolyn Hogge takes photos of dancers. On March 3, the third and fifth grades at Valley Elementary had a Dr. Seuss Day. They read Dr. Seuss books, dressed up, and had parties. You may ask yourself why these parties were held. It was for Dr. Seuss’s birthday and for Read Across The Sixth Grade Dance! By Montana Wayment, th 6 grade student reporter On Valentines Day the sixth graders had a dance. The moms decorated the gym with streamers and hearts, and brought drinks and cookies. Mr. Weight even taught us the foxtrot. It was great. We were even able to pick out our partner a couple of times, or went around in a circle and danced with the partner that we lined up with. It was so funny; when you Mr. Rikko Reese their hair or pulled it up in cones. But one thing I know—they all had a very fun time playing, dressing up, and reading! danced with someone, your mom would walk right by you while you were dancing and take thousands of pictures. Or, Mrs. Carolyn Olsen America. Read Across America is a program which promotes reading for a certain amount of time on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Maybe next year we all should read to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday! During the year, the students always look forward to this party. I saw many kids dress she would say, “Ah, you two look so cute up and do very funny hairdos. Kids colored together.” It was very funny. Also, we had drinks and cookies. They were delicious. It was lots of fun! for the district science fair. It was an amazing night for Valley Elementary. Many who participated won awards. These are the students that won at the science fair and will be able to move on to the next level of competition. Third place winners, Lindsay Mrs. Holly Sackett Science Fair Results Subscriptions available for out of area residents at $18.00 annually. Albrechtsen, Hadley Handsaker, Alexis Rague, and partners Garrett Alton and Austin Hecht. Wow that is a lot of winners! Valley Elementary did an outstanding job! One other award went to Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Hogge. They received special resignation for being the best teachers. They also were awarded a fifty dollar certificate to spend at F.Y.E. They received this award for having every student participate in the Science Fair, and for running such a good program. Good job to the teachers and the students!
