After a honeymoon in Canada heli skiing, Jenny and Taylor will reside in Eden. We wish them the best of luck in their journey together. Slater – Ortega Jenny and Taylor Hansen Wayman - Hansen Jenny Wayman and Taylor Hansen will exchange wedding vows at Powder Mountain on Lightning Ridge, March 8, 2008 followed by a reception at Wolf lodge. The couple will leave on a heli ski honeymoon in Canada. The bride is currently attending Weber State University, graduating in Child and Family Studies and works at Wolf Creek Resort. The groom graduated from Weber State University with a B.S in Business Management, and is working as an executive recruiter for Miller and Associates. Returning Missionaries Chuck and Pat Millet recently returned from serving an LDS mission as Country Directors for Humanitarian Services in Turkey for 18 months. They began their service in Istanbul on August 3, 2006. They will speak at the Liberty LDS Chapel at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 9. Exchanging nuptial vows on Friday, January 4 in the Bountiful LDS Temple were the former Lindsey Slater and Ryan Ortega. The bride is the daughter of Kim and Dorothy Christensen Slater of MarriotSlaterville. Parents of the bridegroom are Robert and Debbie Ortega of Taylor. A reception honoring the couple was held at the Marriott-Slaterville Cultural Building. A graduate of Freemont High School and LDS Seminary, she is currently in the nursing program at Brigham Young University-Idaho. A graduate of Fremont High School and LDS Seminary, he served in the Texas McAllen LDS Mission. He coaches track and field and cross country at Fremont High School. He plans to graduate from Weber State University. The new couple will make their home in Rexburg, Idaho. Obituaries Myrle Wood Stratford Myrle Wood Stratford, 87, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away into the loving arms of our Father in Heaven on February 13, 2008 of causes incident to Myrle Wood Stratford age. She was delivered in the Wood family farmhouse by her grandmother on August 2, 1921 in View, Idaho to Rulon Samuel and Lorena Call Wood. She lived in Idaho, California, New Orleans and in Eden, Utah. She has three younger brothers: LaVar, Grant, and Dennis. She graduated from Ogden High School and Weber College and attended Henager Business School. She married Dr. Keith A. Stratford on February 14, 1942 in New Orleans. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on June 28, 1944. Myrle was the first president of the Ladies’ Organization of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, first president of the Ladies’ Nordic Valley Golf Association, treasurer of the Ladies’ Ogden Golf and Country Club Golf Association., and past president and vice president of the Ladies’ Bowling Association. She was a member of the Chareya Club, secretary of Silent Partners Inc. Group, Weber County State Auxiliary, and past president and secretary of the Weber County Medical Auxiliary. She was the leader of the Bar M Junior Posse for several years. She participated in cancer drives, Easter Seals and Pennies by the Inch. Myrle modeled for Medical Auxiliary activities and Similie’s Fashions. She loved boating, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling, and family activities. She is survived by her husband Keith; five children: Carol (Brent) Stratford, JoAnn (Wally) Henrikson, Kaye (Sam) Shaw, Denice (Ken) Wade, and Keith A. (Janelle) Stratford Jr.; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Myrle was a beautiful, gracious lady at all times. She never complained throughout her earthly trials. She was always there for family and friends. Our greatest tribute would be to live our lives by following in her example. Thanks to Peach Tree Assisted Living and Sister Stephanie for her love and support during her final hours. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. Marjorie Rae DeBoer Marjorie Rae Shaw Hansen DeBoer, 88, passed away on February 13, 2008 at the McKay-Dee hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 28, 1920 in Logan, Utah, a Marjorie DeBoer daughter of David John and Elvera Worley Shaw. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1936 at the age of 16. She married Leland Hansen in March of 1937 in Ogden, Utah. He passed away in November of 1947. She then married Henry “Hank” DeBoer in July of 1949 in Ogden, Utah. They enjoyed many happy years together until his death in February of 1992. Marge was a faithful member of the LDS Church where she had a strong testimony of God and her faith. She served in various callings and cherished being in the Relief Society Presidency. She organized and attended a Family Home Evening group for widows for 16 years. She was a faithful visiting teacher. She enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, handwork, and visiting with friends and family. Her greatest satisfaction was helping others. She volunteered for 20 years as a Pink Lady at the McKay-Dee Hospital. OBITUARIES cont. on page 7 |
