Men 0 pause. Hmmmmm . Does this really need clarification? Let’s look a little closer. To my children menopause means that when mom gets that look in her eyes, we better do exactly as she asks! My sweet husband handles me this way, “Honey, I love you but I’m working late tonight.” On those evenings, I generally can hear my children in hushed tones on the phone with my husband pleading him to come home! Translated: don’t leave us alone with the crazy women, and if you happen to find mom on the way home from work, bring her with you! ‘0 me, menopause has meant my hair leaving my head and taking up residence somewhere else on my body in places that were never meant to have hair! My memory has left on an extended vacation. And, worst of all, uninvited fat cells are moving in bringing their brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, and every other free loading relative! None of which are welcome, mind you! But, you probably got that. I wonder if, when the time comes, if those hot flash things might melt away those fat cells... . I’m guessing not. Yikes! Where did I go wrong! According to experts, I’m normal. Well, now is a “heck” ofa time to be normal! I’ve never been‘ “normal,” “average” or “main- a Swear Word? stream.” Can’t I please be abnormal, unique, a first in my class? If not, I want to opt out of this program! It would seem I don’t have that option! So, what’s a woman to do? I’ve tried soy milk, drugs, more drugs, and, okay, herbs, therapy, group therapy, reading books, praying for a miracle, and pretending all is well (positive thinking). Obviously, nothing has worked. My body seems to have a determined mind of its own! I’m left with only one solution. . . surrender. So, I’ve decided that if 1 am goin to be 30 pounds heavier, | need a new wardrobe, including one of those fancy sini bathing suits that cost way too much because they promise it will make you look slimmer. Yea, right, fat is fat. They don’t make a damn sufficiently strong, in a bathing suit, to hold this stomach back! ver, | do have to admit, cellulite does look better when tanned. So, I guess I’ll be using a tanning bed. So, within the next few months, if you happen to see me at a Nordstrom’s half yearly sale, don’t even try to talk me out of spending money | don’t have! Certainly, don’t get in my way. IfI think you are older en I am, I certainly will respect your longer endurance in this twilight zone called menopause and gladly step out of your way! To you younger women, move slowly aside so as to not catch our attention or disturb us in any way.
