OGDEN & CLINIC Busy life? “Together Again” Kay R. Gonzalez “Together Again” Grant Clifton Smith After a long hard battle against brain cancer, Kay R. Gonzalez died peacefully in her sleep on November 10, 2006. She spent her last moments being pampered and having her nails done by the caring staff at Hospice of Utah at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden. She was born May 16, 1934 in New York City where she was also raised, and where she met her husband. Kay married Joseph M. Gonzalez on June 29, 1957. Later in life, she attended college in Long Island receiving an A.A. degree from Suffolk County Community College and a B.A. degree from S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook. Kay enjoyed gardening and tending to her many indoor plants. She loved to read, watch movies, and play lots of games with her grandchildren. Kay loved to draw and paint seascapes and, most recently, the mountain scenes she could see from her windows in North Ogden. Her favorite mediums were oil paint and watercolor. Surviving are her daughters Gina M. Gonzalez (Brian Rague) of Eden, Utah; and Karen E. Nicosia of Long Island, NY; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Floyd Antonio Franklin (Katy Jo Franklin). She is preceded in death by her husband, her mother Carmen Franklin, and step-father Floyd B. Franklin. Kay lived in Florida for 18 years after moving from Long Island, but really loved her last seven years in her new home in North Ogden. Her neighbors were wonderand we are grateful for the care and friendship they gave to Kay. We are also thankful for the care and love given by staff at Mtn. Ridge Assisted Living. They created an atmosphere of comfort and peace during this past year. He was born November 22, 1924 in Trenton, Utah to Preston Clifton Smith and Una Marie Payne Smith. He married LaRue Stock in Roy, December 21, 1957, later divorced. He married Bernice Thurston in 1968; she preceded him in death in 2002. Grant served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Pe Latter-day Saints, North Ogden 3rd Ws He enjoyed horse racing and western movies, and was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing. is survived by his children: Teri Browning, Scott Smith, Steve (Leann) Tracy, Dale (Kathy) Tracy, Paul Tracy; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Rosezella (Alma) Johnstun, Luella Bateman, and Derba (Don) Christensen; and a sisterin-law Pearl Smith. s preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ellis; and a son, Mike Trac e family would like to thank Dr. Safee of McKay Dee Hospital, the Heritage Park Staff, and Hospice Life Path. Friends and family attended an open house hosted by their children on Saturday, November 18, at the Harrisville Log Cabin, 725 W. Harrisville Road in Harrisville. ey were married on November 16, 1956 in Washington Terrace. After living for few years in Ogden and Roy, they made their home in Nordic Valley for 15 years, then moved to North Ogden He was born in Malad, Idaho, the son of George and LaVena Christensen. He moved to Washington Terrace where he attended Weber County schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1953. A member of the U.S. Navy Reserve, he worked at Builders Payless, Hill Air Force Base, and Nordic Valley ski resort and golf course, retiring from Defense Depot Ogden in 1993. After retirement, he worked at Sam’s Club. Born in Heber City to Lloyd and Anna Carroll, she was raised in Washington Terrace and attended Weber County schools. She worked at J.C. Penny’s college of beauty, provided childcare in her home and also worked at Harmon’s grocery store and Nordic Valley ski resort. They enjoy skiing, bowling, golfing, and attending concerts and plays. They travel every winter to St. George where they enjoy the warm weather, and taking long drives and walks among the beautiful red rocks. They are members of the North Ogden LDS 6th W: Their children and families are Clark and Christie Crowther, Crystal and pe Crowther, Cindie Christensen, and daughter Logan Bowen, Mike and Conbie Jones, and Shad and Alesha Jones.
