Page 3 15, 2006 Weber County Opens Filing Period for Public Office—_ocal resident announces candidacy for US Senate By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News The Candidate Filing Period for this year’s elections for Weber County offices ends March Having announced she would not seek another term as County Commissioner, three Republican candidates have filed, hoping to capture Commission Seat “A” currently occupied by Camille Cain. As of March 10, candidate hopefuls included Gordon “Dutch” Belnap of Ogden, Timothy R. Wayment of West Haven, and Frank Maughan of Pleasant View. Incumbent Kenneth A. Bischoff has filed to retain Seat “B.” imber of incumbents have filed again; Mark DeCaria has filed for reelection as County oe Brad Slater as County Sheriff, and Nila Dayton as Treasurer. Democrat Chad Ledford of Harrisville has thrown his hat into the race, and will square off against Sheriff Slater. Long time Clerk/Auditor Linda Lunceford is retiring her position. Three new candidates—all Republicans—are hoping to capture the race—Scott C. Hogensen of Roy, Darcy L. Kruitbosch of West Weber, and Alan D. McEwan of West Haven Eden resident and incumbent Cheryl Ferrin of District 6 has filed with the County, hoping to retain her position on the Weber County School Board. Current County Recorder Doug Crofts has filed for the new Recorder/Surveyor seat, along with Ernest D. Rowley of Roy. On March 4, Rowley was voted, by acclamation of the Weber County Republican Central Committee, to fill the County Surveyor vacancy opened by Moore’s death. Both Crofts and Rowley have filed as Republicans. Huntsville resident Roger Price has announced his candidacy for the United States Senate as a member of the Personal Choice Party of Utah. Summary of Minutes of Huntsville Town Council Meeting Held February 2, 2006 ® Dennis Shaw updated the Town Council in regards to what is going on with the Ogden Valley Pathways. He reported that this year Ogden Valley Pathways has separated from Weber County Pathways and has become their own entity. Last year they completed part of the trail from North Fork to Eden Park. The next phase of the trail, which will be paved, will go from Eden Park to Huntsville Town. This trail is a non motorized trail. They are planning on applying for a R.A.M.P. Grant. Dennis asked if the Town would write a letter of support for the concept of extending this trail from Eden to Huntsville. The Council approved a motion that Huntsville Town prepare a letter of support for the efforts of Ogden Valley Pathways in furthering their trail system. The Council approved a motion to engage in an agreement with Pamela Mitchell to have her WE’RE WEARIN’ THE design, develop, and enhance the town’s website. (huntsvilletown.com The Council approved and made a motion that the Town Council give Council Member Gault the authority to work with Jake Dangerfield on establishing a building permit for his property located at 219 N. 6800 E. This piece of property is a non-conforming lot. Jake would like to demolish the mobile home that is now on his property and build a new home in its place What Jake is proposing will be an improvement to the property and a benefit to the town.
