The Christmas Tree Jubilee began as a fundraiser called Christmas Wonderland. The idea was born in 1979 s a way to help children with disabilities at Canyon View School. The event was held in the school’s gymnasium and offered 25 trees donated by parents, teachers, and friends of the school. That first year, the event raised $4,000. The event was renamed Christmas Tree Jubilee in 2001. Today, the name signifies a joyous celebration of the holiday season by giving to support children with disabilities in the Weber and Ogden school districts, as well as other community schools who serve our chilren. During the past 24 years, the event has grown enormously, and changed venues several times in order to accommodate this growth. Through the years, the event has raised thousands of dollars and helped countless children. Help has come in the form of tools, supplies, and chairs and devices to make education more accessible for all children. We thank the community for their past support, and ask for your continued commitment to make a difference for many more school children. more information, please call Event Chair Kathleen Alder at 564-5562, or email her at <kalder@relia.net> Page 3 15, 2005 The Music of Their Lives— Local heroes honored at Gala Celebration It was as if there was music playing when Dean and Carol entered the world and it has not ceased to play since that day.
