Inspirational Thought | Love is a journey with your friends, and if you part the way through choice of circumstance, readers. name is Wendy Einarsson and I would like to is a very here. I love breathing the fresh air on an early morning run, and waving at the neighbors when out for afternoon walks with my children. However, I don’t know that I could count the number of times these pleasant moments have been disrupted by generally playful, but occasionally dangerous, freeroaming dogs. I have been chased, snapped at, barked at, growled at; one day I even came home with a good chunk missing from my right thigh. My heart has stopped numerous times as a car’s tires come to a screeching halt, nearly missing the dog that darts across the road in my pursuit. I dread the day that driver and I have to walk up to someone’s front porch to greet the child whose dog is lying cold and bloody in the middle of the street. Or worse, the day I stand to comfort the mother whose child was hit by the car that swerved to miss the dog that “came out of nowhere.” We all think that our dog is harmless, but animals, just like human beings and traffic, are unpredictable. Allowing your dog to roam free not only puts your dog in danger, but also your neighbors and friends, walkers, runners, bikers, and drivers. Dogs and humans can live together with just a little responsibility on our part. Please do not let your dogs roam without direct supervision. When you are not there, keep your dog on a leash, in a kennel, or in the house. And despite the opinions of some local HOA’s, a well designed and well maintained fence does not diminish the value or look of property, nor does it harm open space and spectacular views. What it does do is increase the safety of our pets and children. One final note, despite our best intentions, dogs and children will occasionally wander into the street. Please drive carefully through our neighborhoods. We don’t have sidewalks, and views are often blocked by winding roads and shrubbery, and | have yet to find county support for speed bumps. We all need to slow down and pay a little more attention. VALLEY NEws that love, refined Ticket Prices: Family- $24 (up to 6 people), $12 Adult, $5 Child ae pure, remains with you.
