He spent nearly 30 years as a bus driver for Weber County Schools to supplement the family income. It was through his bus driving experiences that he left an impact on many young people wh d his kindness and concern for their welfare. Neighbors and friends were benefited by his many acts of selfless service. Lou served faithfully in many capacities in the LDS Church. He served with the Young Men, Sunday School, Bishopric Counselor, and Bishop. He and Helen were also ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple until they were aan to serve a mission to Munich, in 1985. He became ill while serving this saisaiod and spent the last 19 years in the loving care of his wife and eternal companion. Lou is survived by his wife, Helen; four sons, Louis (Joan) Buhrley, Max (Lola) Buhrley, Roger Buhrley, Ron ( Karen) Buhrley; and three daughters, Kathy (Bob) Buswell, Lynne (Greg) Graves and Julie (Kerry) Wahlen. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one grandson. Funeral services were held at Huntsville 2nd Ward, 277 South 7400 East, Huntsville, Utah. Interment, Huntsville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund. Email condolences to the family at lom@lindquistmortuary.com Earl Ephraim Smith Earl Ephraim Smith, age 87, passed away on September 20, 2004 at Manor Care in Ogden, Uta rom complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Afton Marie, along with four generations of family that loved him as a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Earl was born in Mackay Idaho on July 28, 1917, the son of Ephraim Jacobson and Beatrice Liddiard, who later divorced and Earl was raised by his stepfather —_ R. Smith. He attended school in Driggs, Idaho, where he graduated from Teton High, lettering in all sports, along with being a Golden Glove Boxer, and was voted “Best Physique” in the class. After high school, he served his apprenticeship as a finishing carpenter under his stepfather in the family business located in Anaconda, Montana, where he met and married his sweetheart and love of his life Afton Marie Massey. They were married on March 29, 1941; in 1963 their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple. They were friends and sweethearts for 63 years. Earl moved his family to Ogden, Utah in 1947 where he worked for Wade Brothers Construction building houses until his retirement. He was an excellent craftsman and took great pride in his work. Earl loved the outdoors. He loved to fish and spent many hours in his boat along with his wife at Flaming Gorge with both of them trying to catch the biggest fish. He had a soft heart for all animals, especially his dog Ginger. Earl was a member of the LDS church and was an Elder in the Canyon View 3rd Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a great-great-grandson, Haiden Johnson. Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Laurie Smith, Eden, Utah; two daughters, Julie Johnson and Joan Davies, both of Ogden; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Dorothy Smith of Anaconda, Montana; and a special nephew Kevin Massey of Ogden; and many other nephews, nieces, and brothers-inlaw and sisters-in-law. Earl’s family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at Manor Care. Hard Thelma Diana Brown Hardy, 98, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at a local care center of causes incident to age. She was born December 29, 1905 in Harrisville, a daughter of Richard Roy Daniels and Genevera Miller Brown. She graduated from Weber College with her Associates Degree and from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. On June 14, 1927, Thelma married Loren J. Hardy in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Huntsville for most of their married life. eo preceded her in death on November 18,1 She was an votie member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout the years Thelma taught school for many years in the Weber County School District. was a member of the Weber County Farm Bureau and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Thelma enjoyed aati quilting, gardening, and her beautiful Surviving are two sons, Don Ganiesy Hardy, South Weber; Roy (LuJean) Hardy, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by one sister. Funeral services were held Friday, October 8 at Lindquists Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Lon Childs officiating. Email condolences ae ae family at <lom@lindquistmortuary.co Dora J aques Abie Dora Child Jaques Abbott, 83, passed away in her sleep of natural causes on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 in Layton at her home away from home, The Country Gardens Home. She was born April 17, 1921 in Ogden to Roy Stephens and Adaline Elizabeth Belnap She was the first graduating class of the new Ogden High School, Class of ‘3 In 1941, Dora married Dale Delbert Jaques in the Logan LDS Temple. They had two sons, Ronald Roy Jaques and Marlow Dale Jaques. They later divorced. In 1953 she married Arthur Jesse Abbott. They had one son, Bruce Corey Abbott. Arthur passed away in 1984. Mom loved crocheting, sewing, knickknacks, genealogy work, and square dancing at the Golden Hours Center in Ogden. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and very proud of her pioneer heritage. Mom told us many stories about our ancestors, even one about our great-great-grandmother washing the blood from the prophet Joseph Smiths clothes after he was murdered. Mom, we will never forget you and what you have taught us. Thanks Mom, see you soon. Love you. Thank you to everyone for helping take care of mom these last few years.
