Show i September 14, 2001 The Summit County I'ige A3 Bee Summit County Fair Utah State President There were 54 entries in the Summit County Fair Parade this year. We would like to thank all those who participated. We would also like to thank the South Summit Marching Band and the Springville Marching Band for the added touch of music. Winners of the parade are as follows: Rodeo Royalty - Little Buckaroo Princess Royalty, Royalty - Miss Summit County, Civic - Coalville Lions Club, Business - Moore's Chevron. Family - Dee & LaVaun Vernon Family, Novelty - Tiny Ass Ranch, Marching Group - North Summit Drill Team. Individual - Edna Atkinson. Best Mounted Man Bruce Sieverts, Best Mounted Woman - Emberlee Clark, Best The Heritage Award was presented Kathleen Blonquist from the Coalville area. Roberta Frazier from the Kamas area, and Bea Kummer from the Park City area. The Heritage Award is awarded to someone in the community who has assisted in giving the community a sense of tradition. The Community Builder Award was presented to Jim Santy from the Park City Area, Leon Wilde from the Kamas area, and Larry Dearden from the Coalville area. The Community Builder Award is awarded to someone who has been instrumental in building a future for our county. Sept. 15. Dutch Oven Cookoff Winners Grand Prize (Double Dutch) -Brian & Debra Blazzard. General first place (Olympic Dutch Oven) -- Mounted Girl - Emeline Brown Winners of the Hay Guess Contest Cole Pace of Wanship won a night stay at the Timpanogos Best Western with the closest guess of 965 lbs. Adam Price of Hoytsville won a smiley face bean bag chair with a guess of 952 lbs. The actual weight of the hay was 969 lbs. Place (Double Dutch) - Morgan & Competition Winners in the Farm Bureau talent competition for the beginwere first place ners (ages 3-- 6) Stephania Barr. She recited a poem & played the piano. Second place Corben Ruf. He played the violin, and third place Shianne Hobson, sang. winJunior Division (age ners were first place - Madeline Johnson performing a dancegym-nastic- s. Second place - Powers 13-1- 7) 2C91 senior citizen awards were presented to the following individuals during the grandstand entertainment at the fair. The Quiet Giant Award was presented to Lydia Carpenter from the Kamas area, Wilma Larremore I Bee Editor In an effort to learn more about each of the State's 29 counties, as 'well as bringing attention to programs at Utah State in Logan. President Kermit L. Hall made a commitment to milk a cow at an elementary school in each county while traveling throughout Utah. Summit County was the 23rd to be Penny Peck. Award is awarded to someone who is rarely recognized for their quiet service to the community. Phyllis, who joins her husband on the tour and takes the opportunity to read to students in selected elementary schools.. While touring, the Halls meet with county leaders, business leaders and residents in the cities they travel through.
