A fuller understanding of the support that water fluoridation has is available in Fluoridation: The Good. The had and The Ugly, a publication. In brevity, what one will find is that the endorsing groups have done little or no research on their own. In Summit County, the possibility of a drought will not only influence the farming communities, but there are many homeowners who own wells and depend on those precious reserves for their drinking water. For those of you who are used to a cohr slant flow of spring water magically appearing from your faucets, just imagine looking out your windows and waiting for snow, yet seeing none or very little. The beautiful land we enjoy in Summit County enables us to enjoy such recreational activities as and skiing in the wintertime, to fishing and boating in the summer months. We dearly see how each season influences the next. It is a reality we live with, yet, we so often fail lo recognize the important role the earth and its moods play in the quality of our lives. One question seems eminent-whpart can each of us play in respecting the land that we depend on? We can all take steps in preserving the gifts of the ground. Each of us can. as they say. make a difference. If we practice a little awareness in our daily lives, we will nut fail to see the areas where we may each save a little water, and yes, a little less worry for the next season ahead. Perhaps we should rake time to check and fix leaking faucets, sprinklers, and pipes that cany our important resources to us. Take an active role by making a checklist of repairs that are needed in prohibiting the waste of our water. In conclusion to the question of "will there be enough snow this winter to supply next years crops", there are no guarantees, but we should look to ourselves as a whole to help with the solution of the lack of water. It is a Sheriffs Blotter BY PAMELA ROBBINS Be Editor Officers responded to a residence in the North Summit area to investigate a "disturbing the peace" call. Several males were found sitting around a camp fire in the back yard and were making a lot of noise. One juvenile was cited for minor consumption. An officer stopped a vehicle for a speed violation at the Uinta Junction after speeding through Kamas. The Summit County Detective Division has been investigating several related fraud cases involving eleven stores at the Factory Outlet stores in Park City. A female called the Sheriffs Office to report tie theft of her diamondemerald wedding band from her home in the Jeremy Ranch area. After returning home from a weekend trip, the owner toqjc off her rings and laid them on a counter top. While traveling to work, she noticed the rings were missing. After searching the home when she returned, the rings could not be located. Officers responded to a residence on a probable cause of a clandestine lab. A number of officers responded and several drug items were located in the garage. Also, a pumber of guns were found in the home. While patrolling an area, officers observed a red vehicle parked along the road with the rear passenger window broken out and that there were no license plates on the vehicle. There was glass on the rear seat and on the drivers seat. Doing an NCIC check, they found the vehicle owner and tried to find a phone number but couldn't locate one. The vehicle was photographed and information taken. A truck was stopped in Kamas for not having mud flaps. The driver asked what he was being stopped for and when told, he mentioned that he had already been cited in Salt Lake for the same equipment violation charge. The officer checked with dispatch and found the original citation had gone to warrant and there was an outstanding warrant out of SL County for $120. The driver was taken into custody to guarantee his appearance on the new mud flap citation. Officers patrolling the Silver Summit region noticed a truck pulling a trailer followed by two individuals on four wheelers. The officers turned around to follow them and the male driver of one of the machines stopped. The female driver.of the second machine drove the four wheeler about 100 yards and assisted the truck driver with placing the four wheeler onto the trailer. They then returned to where the male operator was stopped, talking with the officers. He was observed by an officer, reaching into his pocket and when asked what he had, said "nothing" and then threw something into the bushes. The object was located and officers called fur a test kit to be brought to the scene to determine if it was meth. While waiting for the kit, the male gave consent to four-wheel- er field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was arrested for DUI. A check of the four wheeler was halted when additional objects associated with meth were located. The detective division was contacted and the vehicle's were secured and taken to the Sheriffs office, where a search warrant was obtai.ied. One of the four wheelers was reported as being stolen from Salt Lake. Several vandalism calls were reported in the Marion area. Someone tried to break the lock on the coke machine in front of the Kamas Valley Co-oand a mail box was struck with a bat three or four times causing an estimated $50 damage. A resident in nearby Oakley complained that her residence had been heavily toilet papered and shave cream was used to spell out different words. Several items used at the scene were placed into bags and taken as evidence. Officers responded to a 911 hang-u- p call and encountered a belligerent homeowner who told them they were harassing him at which time they noticed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He yelled at his dog for running outside. Officers asked if they could enter the home to make sure everything was OK and were given permission. When the owner returned with his dog, he asked them what they were doing in his home. The owner was calmed down and the officers left before the situation was escalated. A female complainant called dispatch to report that someone had stolen the license plates from the front of her vehicle. A complainant called to report the theft of his cell phone from a golf cart at the Jeremy Ranch Golf Course. He stated he had accidentally left his phone in the cart and someone had taken it and used it to make several calls before he realized it was missing and reported it The phone bill will be looked at to see if perhaps the person who took it can be identified through numbers called and listed on the bill. Truck drivers entering a roadway from a gravel pit in Francis were warned by an officer, of the offense of not stopping at a stop sign off the road from the gravel pit. The officer explained the concern ova the traffic violations and safety hazards. The officers advised the complainant that further violations would be enforced. A complainant called to advise someone had broken into his daughters car which was parked in the driveway, and taken his lap top computer, office keys and other misc.. items from inside. Photos und a description of the incident was taken. After shopping and taking his groceries to his vehicle, a complainant advised he left his fanny pack in the cart He stated he had returned to the store on to see if someone had turned it in. Although he said he realized, that after the length of time gone by. it was unlikely anyone would return it, he wanted it listed as missing. Items inside included a cell phone, credit cards, family photos, wallet and cash.
