While trying to paint the perfect picture of his political party, he skillfully danced around the fact belief of the that his moral supcrionly of Democrats iron-cla- d was really the driving force behind his obsession to use any method necessary to perpetuate Democratic in power. And his chief side-kicaiding and abetting was. of course, Al Gore. his Think not? What about the campaign funding slink, the selling of the White House access, and the Lincoln Motel (bedroom)? In all fairness to Mr. Gore, however. it looks fairly apparent that he would like, very much, to shuck the Clinton mantle completely. And his choice of Senator Lieherman as his Veep, to he. could be some kind of message. After all, Lieherman shows great capability to make one August 25i 2000 of those political "roll-overs- " whenever needs he. He has shown this aptitude at least a couple of times. Once, hy apparently forgetting (or mayhe it was an act of forgiveness), a statement he made when Clinton was caught lying ahout ...I never had an affair with that woman...." He said "Such behavior is mil just inappropriate it is immoral." Then, the second time, when Lieherman spoke on the Clinton-Gor- campaign funding brouhaha which indicated that e donations were being made to pur- chase influence. "....We cannot deny that the potential existed for this kind of purchase. Nor can we ignore the dangers inherent in the simple appearance of influence peddling. ..ji system that suggests to the public that power will be exercised chiefly in behalf of those who pay top dollar." The evidence of this sorry chapter seems to indicate that Gore not only failed to voice an opinion on Clintons immorality (and other shady quirks) hut also worked in tandem with the Prez on the financing skullduggery, and was, therefore, very aware of what they were doing. (Sigh). Birds of a feather...." We all know that hackneyed, worn-ocliche. But it could be more like the elusive answer to the question. Is it possible for someone to he "....just a little bit pregnant?" ut Thought for the day: "Somehow, we will never see one without thinking of the other." I, along with others, have watched with dismay as much of the business portion of Coalville has withered on the vine. Now. rumor has it that the new post office will he huilt on the of Coalville. What will the effect he on main street business? Reason says, "Keep the Post Office in the center of town.!!" Another related item pertaining to Coalville and its vitality is the opposition of some to the annexation of additional land for development as a subdivision. Coalville needs this. There must be a place for our children and grandchildren to live and rear families. Cottam, Dental Director of Salt Lake Community Health Centers sounds like a desperate man who has to win his points by denigrating his opponents on the fluoride issue. He calls them names like "Deceitful Spinmasters." He continues, "...those opposing fluoride will use misinformation and outright lies to mislead the public and manufacture fears ahout the effects of fluoride. ( Salt Lake Tribune, Aug. 14, 2000) Following something I had written, Mr. Cottam wrote me a letter, dated April 7S that paimtx the official line that the material was either misleading, unsubstantiated or simply fear mongering propaganda." I responded that my researchers and I had gone to great effort to he accurate and that I would appreciate it if the would point out any errors there might he - i.e. our findings, or even their weaknesses. Sometimes, trying to prepare your student for their upcoming school year is like going through a maze. For example, shopping for the "proper" school clothes can turn into a near riot as Mom has her ideas and the student has theirs. Luckily for me. I really didnt have much of a problem in that area because my sons like Ixvi's and (with one exception, but even then he knew what he wanted and for the most part we agreed ) The only down note was that we usually wailed until WAY to close to the slan of schixil and then it was difficult to find the right size. Perhaps one of the most agreed upon reason is that students arc excited ahout schixil starling is because they know they will soon be with their friends on an every day level. During the summer, they usually get together for fun and good limes hut still miss that everyday contact. Recess is a big hit fie the younger set. while the high school students live for ball games and kxiking forward hi perhaps meeting a special "friend" during the year. Tins year is a bit nostalgic for me as my youngest is a mighty scmr. It is a bit strange to think about, because when students graduate there really is a difference in life and in tlie home. I want to take a moment and wish all teachers and student a great year during the 2000-2(Xschool year. Make it the best because memories do last and the good ones nuke life more bearable. Well, moving right along. I want to send my personal congratulations to those involved with the Summit County Celebration Day which was held on Saturday. From the moment I arrived, it was obvious that someone, or a kit of someone's had been working hard to make sure attendees enjoyed themselves no matter which area of interest they chose to travel. )l I hope someone challenges these allegations and talks this newspaper into devoting time to a pro & con article or series or at least let me write an op ed piece. Sincerely, Ken Howard Orem, UT. 84058 i. ay L Pam s PIace Mayhe the spelling is different but stantiated. Peer reviewed journals, government studies and referenced hooks have been used carefully. If there is an exception or mistake, I want to know it. Therefore, call me and let's agree on the cost of someone providing that for me." Sadly, but not unexpectedly. I didn't hear from him anymore. The reader will note that the pushers of fluoridation, following the KIS principle of propaganda (keep the message simple) say it's safe, it's effective and any opposition is using "junk science. I'll bet that some repeat this chant-lik- e phrase in their sleep. Not unexpectedly, they dont respond to the latest research findings on health damage. They don't address findings on the fact that fluoride accumulates slowly in the bones and organs of the body and that fluoride impairs enzyme activity; nor do they publicly acknowledge that minfluoridated areas also have a similar decrease in cavities. The pushers of fluoridation used to refer to Europe as a model the US should follow. They don't mention it now, because all but 2 percent of the formerly fluoridated areas have ripped out their fluoridation systems. The Olympic simulators were interesting to view, especially to note the looks and shouts of enthusiasm coming from the youth. Mayhe we all won't get to actually view the Winter Olympic Games up close and personal, but by attending these types of events, when they do come, we will understand just what is happening as we watch them on the TV.
