Show Page A7 The Summit County Bee February 11, 2000 Braves Defeat Juan Diego An Easy Defeat For The Lady Braves Student Writer: Surah Seurie The North Summit Lady Braves traveled to Salt Lake City to play against the Juan Diego Soaring Eagles. The JV game started off well. The Eagles had a small lead at the beginning, but the Braves quickly took over to win the game. Laccc Wilde fouled out with only .4 seconds left in the game. The final score of the game was 27 to 21 in favor of the Lady Braves. The high scorer of the game was Whitney Peck with 13 points. The Varsity game had a good start as well, even though the Eagles got the tip. All the players played their hardest throughout the game, and their hard efforts paid off. At halftime the score was 23 to 14 in favor of our Lady Braves. The second half continued to go well for the Braves. The JV players that suit for Varsity got a chance to play at the end of the game, and scored us a few more points. The Lady Braves let the Eagles score only 3 points to end the game at 43 to 19 in favor of North Summit. North Summits JV and Varsity teams both played well and had triumphant wins. N.S. 8th Grade Girls Take Second in Tourney lenge ahead of them. Their only loss was to the Heber team: however, they came back and won the next two teams, even playing back to back. They placed second overall. This is a special group of girls. With hard work and determination, these girls Last Saturday morning, an eighth grade girls basketball team woke up early to travel to Mt. Pleasant. They were invited to participate in a tournament with North Sanpete, Wasatch and Manti. With two of the teams being 3A schools, they knew they had a chal will go a long way. Leadership Night Held The first Leadership Night was focused on teamwork. The night was started off with a skit done by the officer team to show what happens when everyone doesnt work togeth- FFA Reporter: Kimberly Robinson The North Summit FFA just began a new tradition. Every month they will be holding a different leadership activity. These nights are going to be used as requirements or --the upcoming trip to State Convention. at Award. Student Writer: Chablee Vernon received Slate competition finally arrived for the North Summit Esonas on Feb. 3. The Esonas traveled to UVSC on Feb. 4 to watch the 4A and 3A competition to build enthusiasm for their big day on Saturday. Military competition began at 9:30 followed by Prop and then Novelty. The girls felt good about their performances. The drill down came. Andrea Richins and Kristen Paskett pul up an extremely good fight. Kristen Paskett, Holly Lewis, and Kristin the Bell received also Kristin Paskett Awards. Congratulations girls. The awards were next and to North Summits surprise they placed in every event. In Military, they received third place; in Novelty, third, and in prop, they received fifth place. This placed North summit fifth in State. The North Summit Esonas have reached a goal of 17 years. The last time the Esonas placed in State was in 1983. The team gut off to a rocky start and the score w as dose at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter had a different outcome, and the Braves started to get it together and were up by twelve points at halftime. The second half was all North Summit. The Braves came on strong causing a lot of Eagle turnovers. Kevin Louder and Landon Judd contributed by scoring 14 points each with Jake Downard close behind with II points.
