Show Celebrating more than 92 years of service to the citizens of Eureka. Volume j Ninety-Fiv- Mac Bigler Eureka, Utah - Mac A. Bigler, 88 beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away Saturday, October 21, 2000 in Tooele, Utah. He was bom April 28, 1912 in Nephi, Utah, the only son of Abner Tranter and Ruby McPherson Bigler. He had five wonderful sisters. He lived in Nephi until he was eight then moved with his family to Silver City, Utah. He graduated from Tintic High School in 1930. He married Lucille Jameson July 9, 1934 in Provo. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple February 28, 1964. They had 66 wonderful years together, and were only separat-- j ed for 84 days. She died July 28, 2000. Mac was a man of pure integ-- f rity. He loved life and was kind to all he came in contact with. He always wore a smile and made everyone feel they were special. He loved Eureka and all the people there. His hobbies were gardening, rock polishing, hunting and fishing. If Mac couldnt be found at the Conoco station he owned in Eureka, he was more than likely at Fish Lake, fishing for "Macks". He caught many prize winning Mackinaw. He enjoyed all sports and rooted for all BYU teams and the Utah Jazz. Mac was a very active member of the LDS Church. He was the financial clerk in the Eureka Ward for 8 bishops. In his later years, he made weekly trips to the Provo Temple for sealing work. He was a heavy equipment operator in the early years and also worked for the State Road Commission. He also worked on the Hoover Dam. Highway 36, 68 and Uinta Highway. Later, he owned and operated the Eureka Auto Service and Tintic Motel for 40 years. He was an out-- I standing businessman. He was a PER of the BPOE 711. He was a member of the Eureka Fire Department for SS years, a charter member of the Tintic Historical Society, Board Member and President of Tintic School District, and controlled the weather reporting station in Eureka for many years. Survived by a daughter, Carolee (Kay) Colovich, Tooele, a son, Kent (Debra) Bigler, Orem; sisters, Effie Bell, Salt Lake City, Elizabeth Robinett. Copperton, Ruby Manson, Salt Lake City, and Alice O'Connor, Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents, a sister. Untie High School news The student body of Tintic High School is participating in KSLs Quarters for Christmas. This project provides students the opportunity to help, needy children. For 35 years. KSLs Quarters for Christmas funds have supplied shoes to needy children throughout Utah. This campaign encourages students to organize activities and collect pocket change from the student body. Every penny received goes directly to buying new shoes for children through the Division of Family Services and other supplies through the Crossroads Urban Center. Last year KSL supplied certificates for shoes. Children who are eligible for this assistance are able to take a certificate to a variety of the areas leading retailers in exchange for a pair of new KSL also was able to shoes. donate $15,000 in cash to the Crossroads Urban Center. Each class at Tintic High School has a jar to put money in for this project, the classes are challenging each other to see which class can get the most money. Elementary school news Kaylee Cunningham from the st grade was given the Principal's award this week for excellence in writing for her book and illustrations entitled. "My Trip to the Fun Dome. 1 Me and my sister, my brother, and my dad went to the Fun Dome. Me and my sister went on a roller coaster. Then we went to get pizza. Christiansen, a at Eureka grader Lacey fourth Elementary School in Eureka, won the First Prize in Language Arts for Fourth Grade and $100 for the story she entered in this years Honoring the Animals Art and Writing Contest for students K- - 12. This years language and visual arts contest drew 1.500 entries from schoolchildren across the state, according to Nathania Gartman. Best Friends director of humane education.
