We asked Becky how all this came about and she said 'Mv Mom started me in dancing lessons when I was just 2!A years old. hated it at first but Mom was determined to make me a dancer." After Becky turned 16. her dancing teacher moved away and she felt that after taking dancing so long and that she and the other girls who were taking dancing had invested in costumes for the classes, she could not let the classes end just because the teacher was leaving the area, so she took over the class and began teaching dance. Classes were progressing fairly well, and for a little change, Becky started having the girls do some marching at the end of each class. Becky said. "The girls loved it because they felt like they were doing what the big girls in High School were doing. "Time went on and Becky was looking for a way to publicize the dancing school, and her mother suggested that the girls be entered in the UBIC Parade in Roosevelt as a drill team. The girls all purchased their own little costumes to wear in the parade, white shorts and red tops. This group of kids were between the ages of 5 and 1 This marching unit went over so well that Becky decided to form an official marching group, they were to be called the Brough Rockettes.
