Sponsored by Zions Bank. Park City, the Annual Art Auction remains Park City's oldest and most eagerly anticipated fund raising event of the year. In its 22nd year, the Annual Art Auction will again offer an array of exciting items donated by local, regional and national artists to help raise money for educational programs at Kimball Art Center. Those represented by their work at the Annual Art Auction include Park City Art Festival artists, in addition to those who have exhibited their work at Kimball Art Center throughout year. According to Kimball Art Center President and CEO, Sarah Behrens, the Annual Art Auction continues to attract more and more supporters each year for a number of reasons. Panicipating merchants and organizations include The Canyons. Egyptian Theatre Company, Deer Valley Resort. Smith's Food and Drug Stives, Stein Erikscn Lodge, Ballet West. Utah Opera and Cuisine Unlimited, among others. This year's auction will also include Kimball Art Center's Wish List an opportunity for people to contribute to the purchase of much-needequipment for our studios each year, Kimball Art Center opens its ceramics, jewelry and photography studios to the community for yuuth and adult art classes, as pro-idiquality visual and educational art experiences to everyone remains an important mission for it this organization. The Utah State Library Division and the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired new building at 230 North 1930 West has been complimented by the installation of public art works. Robert Sindorf of Croton. New i York was selected by the art selection committee from the two agencies to create a sculpture at the front of the new facility. Mr. Sindorf's work entitled Enduring Spirit is a large sculpture of laurenttde green granite in eight parts forming a sweeping curve from 18 up to 6' in height and in an opposing curve to that of the building. Mr. Sindorf addressed the committee requests by creating a work with a " strong visual impact with it's embracing shape while the surface has a detail level that is powerfully tactile and can be explored by touch. Areas of the sculpture are very roughly hewn while others are highly polished for contrast in color and texture. Ms. Fuller created two sculptures of carved concrete entitled Grey Eyed Bear and Red Eyed Ram. Ms. Fullers geometric abstractions of these animals are intended as resting benches to help create an area for mediation and relaxation. The sculptures are interesting in shape as well as texture for experiencing through touch. Ms. Fuller has completed commissions throughout California and Massachusetts. The Utah Public Art Program was created in 1985 by the Utah Pcrcent-for-AAct and is celebrating 15 of helping to bring the ans to years Utah's. Over 150 artworks have been commissioned since the inception of the program.
