Show September 10f 1999 The Summit County Bee Page A4 Cub Scouts Get Special Edition of Boys Life the special feature for September Beginning September 1999, Boys' Life expands to a third demographic edition, one for its youngest readers Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts through age 9. The new edition will include a poster insert bound into the regular Cub Scout demographic edition of Boys' Life. The poster insert is an 8byl0inch piece that pulls out and unfolds to a 16x20inch poster on one side and four 8xl0inch editorial pages on the other side. Each month the poster insert will spotlight a single theme; Whales is lsks - Stfraimg) Firinrotfiiiri) Dim Eelh "Witoelh 1999. The poster insert is intended to further increase material available for our youngest readers. The regular Cub Scout edition without the poster insert will go to all Cub Scout subscribers age 10 and older, as well as all adult subscribers registered in the Cub Scout program. Elek Family records show George as a person who loved the Uintah Mountains and many ol his finest paintings are of that area. His name is recorded in the books of noted ht early Utah artists. Being a Mr. achieved Beard artist, recognition for his work as he painted grand vistas in Wyoming and Utah, with a number of his works being displayed in Salt Lake City in the 1920's and 1930's. Several of his creations are displayed in local entities such as the Commission Summit County Chambers and the North Summit High School, thanks to donations from family members. The painting he completed of The witches rocks is a little different from others which have been done. George included in his rendition, the farm house property which he worked on as a teenager where he first noticed the rock formation. The farm was purchased by Edward Richins, who married George's older sister, in 1858. Beard once wrote My idea of art is the picture which, when you study it, produces a feeling which can be felt but not described. Now, a reproduction of the actual painting is available for purchasing. Being bom in a coal mining hamlet in England on Dec. 21, 1854, to Thomas and Ellen Beard, he cultivated a natural talent in the art of sketching, thanks to efforts from his parents. As converts to Mormonism, George emigrated to Utah in 1868 in what was said to be the last wagon train to enter Deseret, making George a Pioneer. He later settled in Coalville.
