The volunteer plan of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002 (SLOC) will be divided into three phases as SLOC will be enlisting about 8XX) volunteers for a variety of activities, 15,000- 18,000 one volunteers fin staging the Olympic Winter Games and another 4,000-6,00- 0 volunteers fin the Paralympic Winter Games. The Olympic Winter Games will be held on Feb. 4, 2002 and by the Paralympic Winter Games for disabled athletes on pre-Gam- es fid-low- ed March "Community involvement in the Olympic Movement can take many shapes and forms, and volunteering to work before or during the Games is one way of contributing to Utahs effort, said Ed Eynon, SLOC Senior Vice President of Human Resources. "Volunteering will require a significant commitment. However; I cannot think of a better area in which to find qualified volunteers to help us warmly boat the world i athletes and --sts. A strong volunteer contingent will be an integral part of a successful formula for the Games. Arlin and Carolyn Ovard ' of registration for the volunteer program will be announced by the end of 1998.
