GREAT BENEFITS Prevent Serious Injury Now that your children are back in school are you sure that they have everything? How about a bike helmet? Each year 1,000 people die from injuries caused by bicycle crashes, and 550,000 are treated in emergency centers for injuries. Even in the hands of young children bicycles can reach speed of 20 miles per hour or more. Bike helmets are designed to absorb the shock of the impact and prevent or reduce the severity of head injuries. When looking for a helmet make sure that it has been tested by recognized programs. Check for those that have met ANSI, Snell, or ASTM standards.
