Show 2A Tha Summit County Boo Friday, May 26, 1995 Pam's Place What an interesting week the one almost shot has been. According to newspaper and television accounts, there were over 2,000 people who attended the demolition of the federal building in Oklahoma. There were those who returned to the moment when their world was turned upside down because they were in the building when the bombing occurred, but lived through the horror. Others attended to grieve for lost family members, friends or acquaintances and to pay tribute to those lives that were lost a little over a month ago, on April 19, 1995. One person called it a shrine to all those who were taken in such a horrible way. 167 persons died in the bombing blast when a 4,800 lb. bomb tore the face of the building away, with the possibility of three more to be located. The building fell at 7 a.m. (6 a.m. MDT) taking only seconds, as first the east side and then the west side of the building collapsed. 100 lbs. of dynamite were used to re-li- ve lower the building. It won't be easy to forget the Questions Reassignmentthis Dear Editor: I am rewriting the in to reassignsponse regards ment of the principle of the North Summit Middle School. This action amazes me, I have attended the middle school graduation and heard the praises of the graduating class, school, staff, and administration. I have had the opportunity to become involved with some activities of the middle school and the opportunity to work with Mr. Brooks on some issues and problems. This is a very well functioning system and as the old saying goes "If it ain't broke don't fit it." I have to wonder if this doesn't apply here. In all the talk and explanations being given on this matter, I have yet to have someone give me a truly valid reason, other than state requirements and I understand they are now in question. If someone could have said Mr. Brooks is hard to get a hold of, he doesn't return phone calls, he doesn't work with parents or students, he doesn't have the best interests of the student at heart, etc. I could hope to understand this action, but Mr. Brooks is always available to help and listen and act on problems good or bad. He does have the best interest of the students at heart, he is concerned about their welfare and he will listen and work with parents. This brings up my other point, do those people who are bringing about this action have what's best for the children in mind, or is this a personal problem that children are being involved in? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that is what is so right about this country. I have had the opportunity to express mine. If you don't agree that's okay. If you do have some concerns, then do something. Call your school board representative tell them how you feel, after all they were voted in to represent the people and what you waftt. Get in- volved in what goes on at the school and the decisions that are being made. This is your children's future and whether is about this is sue or others we all need to start voicing our concerns and desires. I will apologize now for asking for my name to be withheld from this article, only because I do not want repercussion upon my family. I am not involved in the school system nor an I a relative of the Brooks family. I am only a concerned citizen that would like some answers and representation not only in the school but also the county in matters than involves all of us. Name Withheld By Request Fingerprinting of Children Dear Editor: Over one million children are lost or abducted in the United States each year. According to authorities, those children have a better chance of being found if parents maintain current photos of them. On Saturday, June 10, The Factory Stores at Park City is hosting its second annual KidCare Photo ID Event to provide parents with safety documents of their children in the event of an emergency. Parents can gain peace of mind by obtaining free photographs and fingerprints of all of their children at the KidCare Photo ID Event at The Factory Stores at Park City from II a.m. to 4 p.m., sponsored by Carter's Childrenswear. Children will be photographed, weighed, measured, and fingerprinted, with all information placed in a "passport" style ID booklet. McGruff the Crime Prevention dog will be on site, and everyone will receive free refreshments, free facepainting, and free balloons. The Factory Stores at Park City and Carter's Childrenswear are offering the free KidCare Photo IDs as a public service to families in the area. We're pleased we can play such a vital role in helping to keep children safe in our community. We certainly hope no one will ever need to use these documents, but parents can at least be assured that they have the information in a safe place at home should the need arise. We invite everyone to join us at the KidCare Photo ID Event Amy Norgate American Cancer Society and Dan's Foods Tee Off The Longest Day of Golf Dan's Foods is teeing off on the Longest Day of Golf to help the fight against cancer. Due to the discoveries of over 60 types of (funny word) neuropeptides, brain surgeons now believe that these parts of die brain stimulate electrical charges on the neurons which affect our emotions. Also, they agree that these neuropeptides are found in our other vital organs such as our heart, spleen, thymus, lymph glands, bone marrow, and parts of the spine - even in our stomach. So if you get a "gut feeling" that something isn't right, maybe there is more to it than the feeling. Maybe you have unconsciously triggered a mechanism which affects your power to reason. The ancient Chinese acupuncture method of treating ills is thought to be based on their ability , to locate the energy "channels" frequented by the "peptides" and by placing the needles in those channels (or junctions) the flow of stimulation is altered or changed for the good - thus affecting change for improvement. Maybe there's something to it, because medical technicians also agree that communications between brain and immune systems imply a steady flow of peptides and more openness and coordination between the two than experts thought possible. It is becoming more and more apparent that meditation and "thought channeling" do have an effect on curing ills. In other words you can think yourself well. The power of positive thinking can contribute an incredible amount of good towards your healing process. One thing is certain, the thinking and reasoning functions inside the human brain are an ongoing literal explosion of complex and miraculous happenings. The main thing is to not dwell on what's past Look forward to remembering that the most beneficial thing about yesterday is only what you learned from it Think of the two things that are unique about the jet airplane; one, it has no reverse gear, and two, it has no rear-vie- w mirror. It was designed and manufactured for straight ahead only - and at a considerable rate of speed. Probably the most important principle parents can teach their children is to look ahead, move forward and be dedicated towards their goals. Example is what it takes, in mind, body and spirit As Dr. Benjamin Spock said, "...Children, being the world's greatest mimics, naturally and automatically model their parents' behavior. Younger people constantly watch their elders, and others who help guide their destiny -their siblings, friends, relatives, teachers, etc., are all examples to them. And they do mimic. They do follow example. They do accumulate bad habits as well as the good. So those placed in charge of their destiny should always furnish the best of all values through the examples they set Jacob M. Braude said, "Whoever you are, there is some younger person who thinks you are perfect There is some work that will never be done if you don't do it There is someone who would miss you if you were gone. There is a place that you alone can fill. The human brain's capacity as well as its potential is immeasurable, and all we humans have to do in order to literally think our way into a better state of existence is use it much more than we have been accustomed to doing. The Chinese have said for centuries that control over the brain lies with other vital body organs such as the liver, heart, spleen, lungs, kidneys and so on, and today's modern medical sleuths are tentatively agreeing with this pletes.
