Second attendant is Camille Vernon, first attendant is Leslie Richins, and the 1987-8- 8 Sweetheart was Wendy Wooislcnhulmc. North Summit FFA queen Contestants use their skills to gain points with some rather unusual contests. The events and piacings were as follows: Monday pie eating contest, Camille Vernon first, Janac Pace second, and JoDcc Downey third; Tuesday hay throwing, JoDcc Downey first, Leslie Richins second, and Camille Vernon third; Wednesday dress-u- p as farmers, Jill Olsen first, Wendy Woolstcnhulme second, and Janae Pace third; Wednesday cow milking, JoDce Downey first, Leslie Richins second, and Camille Vernon third; Thursday livestock judging, Camille Vernon first, Janalce Swensen second, JoDce Downey third; Thursday tractor driving, Leslie Richins first, Yvette Wilde second, and Janae Pace third. Friday the Sweetheart contestants were judged on answering questions, modeling and an interview. Their cakes were judged, Leslie Richins receiving first, Wendy Woolstcnhulme second, and Janac Pace third. The cakes were then sold with the help of auctioneer Zanc Dewese. Jason Christensen and Jared Dixon, two FFA Greenhands, were the lucky winners of the kiss a pig contest and got the grand opportunity to kiss a pig during the assembly. Many other first year FFA members participated in Greenhand initiation. The FFA would like to thank all those who participated during the FFA week and attended tie dance. Lady Braves Capture Mustangs As the last league game of the North Summit Lady Braves drew near, victory was a sure bcL The Braves have been threatened with a lot of injuries this year, but refuse to back down. The JV team started out quickly by gaining th opening tip-o- ff thanks to Kim McQueen and a layup by Becky Bates pul the Braves up on lop, where they stayed throughout the rest of the game. Outstanding rebounding by Andrea Pace led to numerous fast breaks and inside shooting by Nikola Williams and Kim McQueen which kept building the NS lead. Sara Williams was hot on outside shooting and led in assists to Becky who was the top scorer with 17 points next to Kim with IS points. In the second half, the freshmen were sent in to finish the job, which they certainly did. Congratulations to these first year girls who have really come along this season. Excellent ball handling and shooting by Melissa Wilde and rebounding by Niki Franc om along with well practiced defense by all the girls kept the Braves moving farther ahead with the final score ending a healthy win for the ladies, 2. The varsity lady Braves went onto the court fired up for the kill. The Braves dominated in every cat- ples with awesome shooting and rebounding both added to the Braves The top scorer for the varsity game was Jennifer Jones with IS points and some incredible "take-out- ." steals. The Braves came out with the victory again, an easy 40-8- 1 win. Sterling Scholars by Janalee Swenson Some outstanding young ladies have been chosen as the 1988 North Summit Sterling Scholars. They are: Cresia Allen, general; Kristine Dcardcn, math; Sue Dcardcn, history; Shelly Fricry, vocational; Susan Osmond, business; sor is Mrs. Rocmmich. The Sterling Scholars will be creating portfolios and practicing interview skills in preparation for the competition. The competition will be held April 26 in Vernal.
