She has also participated in seminars in Utah and Idaho. Valerie is the creator of Body Dynamics, and has been teaching in the field of aerobic dance for six years. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education. Valerie is the exercise choreographer in the new exercise ski film Skiercise, and has also been seen on P.M. Magazine and KSL. She is currently the Director ' of Aerobics at Prospector Athletic ' Gub in Park City. , "'Guest Speakers of the workshop. included these qualified professionals: v Pat - Eisenman, PhD.-,'- . F.A.C.S.M. Dr. Eisenman receivin' Physiology of Exercise and Physical Education from Kent State .University in 1973; She has been the Director of Adult Fitness at the University of Utah since 1982. Dr. Eisenman is the Chairperson for the School Fitness Subcommittee for the Governor's Council on Health and Physical Fitness. Dr. Eisenman spoke on the components of an exercise class and what consumers need to look for in an-- ' instructor. Some of her guidelines were: The instructor needs to have a CPR Certificate or Redcross First-Ai- d card. Also valuable is the knowledge of mechanics. A body muscles-an'qualified instructor will have a good warm-u- p period, adequate n following the aerobics, muscle strengthing exercises and an effective stretch at the end of the class. She also taught the instructors how to recognize and correct minor injuries. The instructors learning experience was not confined to the class room. Saturday included a luncheon at the Grub Steak and a fashion show designed and choreographed by Lenore Brady. There were also door prizes and representatives for various dance related businesses were available to answer questions. The countryside in Dominican Republic is covered with lush vegetation bordering on the sugar cane fields, banana plantations and rice fields. The program, entitled Fashions and Fantasies, was written and narrated by Roberta Frazier. Music was provided by Tempo. Tempo is a group of talented ladies from Oakley including Delora Young, Kaye Woolstenhulme, Kenna Frazierj Eileen Stevens, Phyllis Page, and Carolyn Park. They were accompanied by Susan Johnson. First on the program was a satire on participating stores. From Jean's West an outfit was a Charleston Drew worn by Lisa Anderson, and a 1950 slim torso dress with pleated flounce was modeled by Soinja Wilde. Also was today's most popular trend sette Blue Jeans" worn by Karri Frazier. Spirit of Soaring- - Splash of Color boasted such beautiful outfits as a lavender two piece dress entitled "Flirtatious, modeled by Teresa Stevens and . , modeled by Karen Lefler entitled Happy Trails to You". Also, Fosmore Fashions, a 1928 Flapper dress, and beautiful Fox Stole, was worn by Patsy Lewis. A couple of the outfits featured in Summer Time-Pla- y Time, were a body suit modeled by Lonnie Harper, and an English Riding Habit worn oranges, grapefruit, mangoes, by Daralee Roberts. Ms. Michals . spoke cm posture analysis. She explained how properposture uses body muscle more effectively and help Cfiviate back problems. Expertise is in sport psychology with emphasis in motivation and stress management. Dr. Henschen has served as si consultant to the European Health Spas and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the area of fitness, and teaches at the University of Utah. Dr. Henschen gave an interesting lecture on motivation and technique. He gave some insight into the medical reason we feel terrible the first couple of weeks into an exercise program. Dr. Hfcnschen explained that after working about three weeks the body loses red blood cells and goes through a transition period. During this period we often feel fatigue and depression. But if the regimen is continued, in about four to six weeks the red blood cells renew themselves and you !' and watcrcolor.
