Show The WaU Could FaU ' If the United States is to continue competing with other countries in areas involving high technology, it is mandatory that we have an educated society. Though the recent computer revolution has created a demand for engineers and specialists, people of all professions are needed for foe United States to retain its position as T a leader among nations. We could compare this demand for specialists to bricks in a wall which represent different areas of study. No one brick is more or less important than another. Yet, if any one of foe bricks is weaker . The Science (Un ) Fair It . missing, foe wall is not stable. If enough of foe bricks lack strength, the wall will crumble. Each of us has our own part to play in foe building of this wall. We cannot all enter foe same area of study, because each of us is different, but each of us can develop our own minds and put them to use to their fullest potential. Other countries are developing new ideas and producing new products of superior quality. Now foe United States has to put its mind to work and develop products capable of competing. In this way we are stabalizing and strengthening that brick wall. John Fj Kennedy once said, "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education. The human mind is our now the demand for this resource has fundamental resource. exceeded foe supply and the nations future is at stake. We may say that one person who fails to develop his own mind is only one, and he could have contributed only a small part; but if many fail at foe task at hand, foe small parts then add up to major weakenesses. This slows the progress of the country. The time has now come when these weaknesses have to be strengthened or the brick wall which the United States has worked so long to build will weaken and eventually fall. But . While I criticize the season, (and I find fault with every season) I wonder if I am missing foe best things in life, all for free. I have never seen such beautiful mountains, whether they are green, splashed with fall colors or blanketed in snow. Our cloud formations are fantastic. The wild life is abundant and exciting to see, the birds ate flashing colors. My Grandfather said a blue biro brings spring and right now Im trying hud to find one. But do we see everything that is available? For instance, several years ago, I was a den mother for six little cubs. When our theme for foe month was on obeying laws, I took them to foe Gty and County building. We talked to foe PR man and then he called a guide to show us foe building. We visited foe judges, chambers and other offices. ;Our guide pointed out foe different structure of foe building. He showed us foe different marble and how foe grain in it makes pictures. Then he wanted to take us up to foe crows nest under the bells just when they were ringing. We would walk around 3 walls and climb a flight of stairs, then walk around three walls and up another flight of stairs to foe top. He kept asking me if I could make it. I was determined. After all he was at least 10 or 15 years older than I. Right under foe dock, I had had enough and told them to go foe last 2 or 3 flights without me. No, I wasnt tired, I just fell on a bench when no one could see me. They stayed up there for a few minutes and then came back to me. The guide decided the boys should rest a minute. I was sure my panting and red face gave me away. While there, foe guide pointed out foe different trees, flower beds and other things in foe valley we could see from our high vantage point. He told us about the architecture parts of the building. It was a very informative . tour. When we got down to foe PR man, he asked how the tour went. I said, "Just fine and the guide showed us so much we would have all missed seeing without him. The PR man said, "I know.
