They were right response Kimball Art Center was most evident. Eight ideas were presented to the KAC Board for consideration. Six of the proposals were accepted and the previously rocky road between the local artists and the KAC began to show signs of improvement. The Kimball Art Center not only granted PCAAs request for a local's show but offered to schedule the show during the Arts Festival, a time when the exposure would be ideal. KAC further renovated the downstairs studio so it would be suitable for a small one man show gallery. Their request to place a portfolio of local art work in the gallery shop was approved and one wall was set aside for work by local artists. In response to the artists request for more direct communication the artists were ready to sacrifice some of their isolation for cooperation. Fourteen artists attended the first meeting at Studio 9. and they found they agreed on almost all of their major needs. They needed a central Clearing house for information about upcoming invita- tional juried shows, they wanted to say in the art center's policy toward local artists, they wanted a clearer understanding of the Arts Festival selection process and they wanted some support from fellow artists. They set out to achieve these ends by forming the Park City Artists Association. According to PCAAs President Diane Balaban, the Association is open to all artists at any level. Most of the members are already professionals but anyone who is serious about their art work is welcome.
