All-Regi- Clayton Page: Team (Deseret News). All-Regi- on All State South Summit High School was honored to have nine football players in the Deseret News and the Tribune. These nine people received the awards of All State and All Region players. The Deseret News picked Gordon Mondragon and Johnny Thompson as first team all state and Jim Ure as second team all Iicfnt: Paul Jay 42-1- p; s-- McNeil: 1. ; First All-Regi- on Team (Deseret News); Second Team (Tribune). All-Sta- te By Jeff Anderson and Steve Myer and All Region lineman; Steve Myer, receiver; state. First team all region is: Steve Myer, Jay McNeil, Paul Prescott, and Clayton Page. Second team honors went to Travis Hatch and Jack Woolstenhulme. ' The Tribune decided on four first team all staters which are Johnny Thompson, linebacker; Gordon Mondragon, defensive and Jim Ure, offensive line. Second team honors went to Jay McNeil, offense and Paul Prescott, defense. We would like to congratulate these people on a very fine job. Hyptnotism Assembly Monday, Nov. 23, the South Summit studentbody and faculty assembled in the auditorium to watch Mr. Jack Lithgoe perform his hypnotism talents. Jack has been involved in hypnosis for 33 years and is very good at what he does. He aked for volunteers from the audidice and then explained the power of , , Gordon First matches. Barry Potter a junior won in the last few seconds with a great effort. Paul Prescott a senior, and a returning State Champion won 10-Jay McNeil a senior, got a third round pin. Steve Myer a senior, who placed second in state, won with a second round pin. The final score was 9 for the Wasps. Congratulations to the team. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, the South Summit Wildcats traveled to Wasatch for their first wrestling match of the year. The team consists of: 98 pound, Steven Smith; 105, Troy Prescott; 112, Jimmy Kirkham; 119, Barry Potter; 126, Matt McCormick; 132, Wade Woolstenhulme; 138, Paul Prescott; 145, Jay McNeil; 155, Steve Myer; 167, Dwight Aplan-al185, Gordon Mondragon and Gayton page. The Cats got off to a bad start, but ended up winning four varsity Lewis, Teana Simpson, Trina Wilde, Alene Brown, Doug Mitchell, Robby York, Matt McCormick, Steve Myer, Colleen Mair, Maryann Prescott and Diana Lambie. After thoroughly explaining it, he then hypnotized the volunteers, and easily convinced the audience of the power involved. He then let the whole audience try to be hypnotized and then chose a few more to join them on stage. The volunteers were: Lonnie Richardson, Angie White, Tam- - All-Sla- te Brown was told to untie his tie, Matt McCormick couldnt lift his feet from the floor, Diana Lambie grabbed the curtain and couldnt let go of it. Maryann Prescott thought she was going down a 20 foot drop and Colleen Mair tied his bow tie back up. Everyone enjoyed the assembly and wish his return in the future. II o ! . On Tuesday, Nov. 24, the FFA and FHA contestants made pies and cakes to be auctioned off. Mr. Taylor was the auctioneer, and Jay McNeil, last years FFAFHA King held the pies and cakes. Each contestant came up and told what their cake of pie was made of. The contestants were: Ann Marchant, Alene Brown, Lonni Richardson, Judy Hebden, Christy Sorenson, Kathy Leonard, Cathie Prescott and Lynette Page. The boys were; Paul Marchant, Jack Woolstenhulme, Wade Woolstenhulme. Tyler Page, Drew Harper, Doug Mitchell and Randy f. ' && Boys Basketball 5 " - Ilf-- z ?i " r T Defeated by Wasatch Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27 and 28, a four team tournament between South Summit, Wasatch, Morgan and Park Gty was held. The two games Friday were held at Morgan with Park Gty playing Morgan at 6:00 p.m. with Morgan winning. South Summit was pitted against Wasatch at 8:00 p.m. At the end of the first quarter, the score was with Wasatch leading by only two points. The Cats just couldnt seem to get the momentum going as Wasatch widened the margin. By the end of the third quarter, things looked pretty bleak for South with Summit. The score was South Summit behind by 21 points. In the fourth quarter the Cats outscored Wasatch but not enough to pull off a victory. A Trip To Intermountain LaNae Atkinson, Karma Alisa Page, Tamee Crittenden By Frazier, On Friday, Nov. 27, the wrestlers traveled to Intermoun-tai- n to wrestle the Eagles. There was quite a few people there for how far it was to travel. The wrestlers did a good job. They even wrestled through twice. The second time were only one minute rounds. The only problem in the day was when Troy Prescott became sick after being choked. But it turned out fine when he decided to finish the match and won. . Congratulations to all the boys. At 9:00 p.m. people started to gather at the old gym to await the 'V First mmm On Wednesday, Nov. 25, the South Summit FFA and FHA held a dance at the South Summit old gym, to announce the Harvest Ball ; . Miners and the 2A Wasatch Wasps and Morgan Trojans. After a disappointing defeat by the Wasps Friday night, the Wildcats redeemed themselves against the Miners with an easy victory.
