On Wednesday, the four attended a marketing workshop sponsored by the Office of Museum Services, held at the St. George Hilton. The morning session focused on fund raising and ideas were gleaned from the different museums represented. A nice lunch furnished by OMS. was followed by the afternoon session, on "Marketing a Shoestring". The day ended with chcck-in-tim- e at a Mesquite resort (where prices are affordable) and dinner. On Thursday, the foursome returned to St. George where June attended the annual meeting of the Utah Museum Association at the Hilton. Bill, Joan and Colecn spent the day visiting historic places and sightseeing in the St. George area. Thursday evening.. the trip back to the Mesquite room; dinner at the new Players Island Resort, and sightseeing in the area. Friday, found them homeward bound, taking in more historic sites and museums, and talking of the great time and good ideas they had gleaned for their own museum. Although the Tintic Mining Museum is small, with a very small budget, it is pretty well known around the state, at least to other museum personnel. The four representatives of our museum returned home tired but satisfied with what they had learned. Rushmorc where they saw the Presidents and admired the pristine beauty of the pine-cla- d mountains among all the granite. Naturally, they took pictures of the Presidents just before it fogged in. They visited the gift shop, saw slides of the Presidents being carved, and heard the whole story. As they started back to Custer, snow began to fall. When they left the next morning, four inches of snow had piled up. Arriving in Lusk, they found ten inches of snow, broken branches on the trees, and the snow plows working. They decided to go south to Douglas and continue on south instead of going north as planned, cutting two days off the trip. Stayed in Rawlins that night and arrived in Evanston the next day. Surprise! Blue sky and sun! Effie reported that "Utah was as cold as Wyoming but no snow!!!". Joe and Grace Bernini en-oy- ed a surprise visit on Saturday afternoon from son and grandson, David and Gregory Bernini of Salt Lake City. The time went so fast that instead of going back home on Saturday night, they stayed over until Sunday noon.
