But in searching for the package and beat rate, be aware that not all online credit card offers are as straightforward as they appear. It is important to know, before you hit the Bend" button, what the interest rate is baaed on, how long the rate applies, what the difference in rates are between purchases and cash advances and what the penalties are for late payments. Before you click the send" button, be aware that each time you apply for a credit card, online or offline, the credit card company will send an inquiry to one of the credit reporting agencies - Equifax, Experion or TranaUnicn. Each time a lender requests information from one ofthe three credit reportingagen- - ciesa notation is placed in your credit file that shows an inquiry was made into your creditworthiness . An inquiry will usually remain on your credit report for aa long aa two years. So, if you have applied for several different cards over a short period of time, that may affect the way lenders view your creditworthiness. After 6:00p.m. it OK cadets Civil Air Patrol receive special training The first week was the basic course and the second week was the advance course where he learned to be a team leader. The place that this all took place was Fort Atturbuiy, an Army base 30 miles south of Indianapolis, Indiana. In spite of the way it sounds, he says it was a great learning experience. Derek and Justin are sons of James R. Lemon who is a Lieutenant in the local CAP squadron. Three cadc-- members of the Uintah Basin Composite squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, based in Roosevelt had some rather interesting and exciting experiences this past summer. CCMSGT (Cadet Chief Master Sergeant) Derek Lemon and C t SMSGT (cadet Senior Master Sergeant) Dennis Olsen, spent a week at Laughlin Air Force Base near Del Rio Texas. They stayed in a hotel in Del Rio and were bussed to the base each morning. They attended classes at the Air Education and TrainingCom-man- d on the air base where they learned what it took and what it waa like to be Air Force officers and pilots. Part of the training allowed them to operate the flight simulators for several of the Air Forces aircraft. They were also able to see how an Air Force base operates maintenance, life support, radar, control tower and security. It wasnt all work as they were able to go across the border one night into Mexico for dinner and to pick up a few souvenirs. Another thing they did was to go to the shooting range and shoot some M-- 9 and 6 guns. They reported that the whole thing waa an absolutely awesome experience. CSSMSGT Justin Lemon (Derek's brother) went a different direction. He went to the Ground Search and Rescue school, part of the National Emergency Services Academy, where he spent two weeks trainingin procedures used in carrying out ground search and rescue operations. This training took place in Indiana. The typical day started at 5:30 a.m., then alter breakfast a couple of houra in class and then out into the field to practice search and rescue techniques. If they were lucky, they got to go back to the barracks to eat and if not so lucky, they were able to eat what waa called MRE which is meals ready to eat. He reported that they werent too bad, at first that is, but the more you had, the worse they M-1- Six nights they had to stay out in the field in the thistles and thorns. They had no tent and just had to make a shelter out of what they had. The bedroll, he said, waa what he called 6 Burrito. It consisted of a poncho then a sleeping bag and then another poncho on top. It works well as long as it doesnt rain hard. He learned how to locate an emer- PUBLIC a m iiSWiW'i Y got For Sale! UBET begins study period on rate structure A rate structure freeze on local telephone rates and state access rates for former Qwest customers in Vernal, Roosevelt and Duchesne, nowbeingserved by UBET expired on Oct. 6, paving the way for the rate to be equalized. AccordingtoGlendaStewart, public relations director, over the next several months UBTA and UBET Telcom will be workingon the rates between UBTA and UBET Telcom, so that customers who live in the newly acquired service territories, as well as those who are being served by UBTA will pay the same rates for their local telephone service. will not reThe rate sult in the immediate implantation of the company proposed Basin-wid- e calling plan, which would allow customers tocallanywhere in the Uintah Basin for a flat monthly fee. UBET will be conducting an economic analysis to determine the impact such a proposal would have on the company financial and loan ratios, as well as its ability to maintain financial integrity. During the study period UBTA-UBE- T personnel will be studying the true costs of providing this type of service. Once these studies are complete, UBET Telcom will then seek regulatory approval from the Public Service Commission of Utah for its proposed callingrate plans. This pro- cess could take six months or longer. For the time being, UBET Telcom customers will continue to pay a per minute long distance charge if they call anywhere outside of their own exchange. At the same time all UBTA customers will continue to be charged $4.95 a month for unlimited calling six-mon- th within the seven exchanges of Altamont, Tabiona, Flattop, Lapoint, Neola, Fruitland and RandletL 45-52- ac-l- 0795 A person(s) under 18 years of age TO: KATIIRINA El.
