There are two options, righl?Neither one gets any cause they are being brats, or split it and each gets half. In the first instance, nobody gets what they want, so it is fair. In the second instance, each gets part of what he wants, so it is fair. (Just make sure microscopically bigger concerned with fair ordemocracyorwhat the people want. Earl McCain District 2, Board Member-eleUtah State Board of Education re the writinn of Alexander Ham ilton, James Madison, and John Jay defending the Constitution ofthe United States that was being written I found it ironic that on the page behind the front cover, titled Message to Mankind, it says in pert, The authors and supporters of the Constitution of 1787 foresaw that a clear-cvota against it in the State ratifying conventions would destroy at birth the young nations most important experiment in popular government. Page 82, written by Hamilton as be explained the difference between a democracy and a republic, says, It may happen that the public voice, pronounced by the representatives of the people, will be more consonant to the public good than ifpronounced by the people themselves, convened for the purpose. On the oilier hand, the effect may be inverted. Men of factious tempers, of local prejudices, or of sinister designs, may, by intrigue, by corruption or by other means, first obtain suffrages political support, and then betray the interests of the people." My thoughts went to the Cuban boy taken by federal force from Florida, then to the nugor media's accidental announcement that Gore had won Florida before the polls had closed. Florida was the target, where the governor was a brother of the candidate for president (thus tying the governor's hands). The words of Hamilton jump to mind: sinister designs, intrigue, corruption. America, wake up! Or tomorrow we will have no re pub lie, no guns, and no George Washington. 1 thought that, after listening to the tnqior media for 1 years of campaign politics, on election day there should be a day of political silence. Only public servios announcements reminding us to vote and how to use a democratic voting card. No exit poll reports or guessing, no analysts; and ifthere are any media leaks on vote counts the media shall pay for all costa of lawyers judpw, and for mental cruelly to the voters. We can still change the direction we ere heading but it is gettingdose. We will need to get men of honesty, integrity, and love of country above love of self ifUiers are any left. This gives cause for celebration and reflection upon things that I will never, ever again hare to be witness to. Alas, in a couple of months, the thoroughly disgusting and shameful occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will be east aside and hopeftil fy forgotten by the nation that he has so terribly dishonored. In order to celebrate his upcoming depart ure I hare drafted the following piece which I hare appropriately entitled Never Never again willl hare to watch the steps of Air Force One while a proud Marine in full drees uniform crisply salutes him, aMarine who fully comprehends duty, honor and country inaway that the man ho is saluting never will. Never again on Veterans' Day will have to watch Bill Clintonplt a wreath on the haBowndTomb ofthe Unknown 8oldier while he dramati- cally bites his lower lip in an effort to appear that he cares or even appreciates what this place is all about. A place where truly brave men and women whopersonally paid the ultimate price for freedom are forever remembered. Never again will I hare to watch Bill Clin too on national television wag his finger at each and every American and unconscionably lie to Bill Clinton walk down and women ofthe military into frivolous but action to deflect attention from the personal scandals that confront him at home. Never again will I see Bill Clintons name on a ballot. Never again will 1 he embarrassed by Bill Clinton's disgusting and abhorrent behavior with a woman in the twenty-four-year-o- ld Orel Office. Never again will Bill Clinton hare the power to conduct an eight-rea- r social experiment with the United States Armed Forces, driving the best out while systematically crippling the overall capability, effectiveness and morale of the remaining troops. Never again will I hare to bo embarrassed to say Bill Clinton represents me, a proud citizen of the United Statee of America. Never again will Bill Clinton be able to sell the historic Lincoln Bedroom to the highest bidder, the Chinese, felons, and other disreputable characters. Never again will I hare to watch Bill Clinton departing church with his equally pitiftil wife clutching ai oversized Bible in his hand is If to make us believe thst he hss repented for any of his misdeeds. Never again will 1 hsre to see a joint session of Congress rise to their feet in the Capitol building when the deceitful and shameless Bill Clinton enters the chamber. And finally. Never again will I hare to refer to Bill Clinton as "President of the United Statee." May God Bless America.
