For many in the state of Utah, the first response would be, "The Festival of Trees." This four-da- y has become an integral part of igniting the holiday spirit. And this year more than ever, festive sparks will be flying This year marks the 30 anniversary of the Festival of Trees and giving a "Gift of Love" to children in need at Primary Children's Medical Center. For three decades. Festival of Trees has raised funds to bene fit children in need at Primary Children's Medical Center. It is a tradition of love that continues today because of a volunteer board of 80 women and an army of supporters from throughout the state. This event, led by Chair woman Berty Wardle from Sandy, Kae Rasmussen, and her Alpine; and Sharon Smith, Salt Lake City, happens because of the combined efforts of a generous community and thousands ofcommitted volunteers. These volunteers have been work ing all year to make sure this hallmark event is celebrated in style. To do this they have enlisted the help of school age children from around the state. With patients at Primary Children's Medical Center in mind, children created artwork depicting their favorite holiday memory. Selected artwork welcomes visitors on billboards, brochures, tickets, and CD covers. Thirty pieces of art were selected for auction; each one representing a year of Festival's history. Like so many others, these children willingly drew their memories to help ensure other children will have their' own memories to enjoy. "The children's art thatdccorates Festival this year is the perfect reminder ofwhat the past 30 veara have been about children, explains Chairwoman, Berty Wardle. It is the love ofchildren that united this community and makes Festival of Trees possible." This love translates into bard physical evidence the week of Festival.
