Sweat Cleo Lucille Thomas Sweat, age 81, of Loris, CO, formerly of Fruitland and Mytoo Utah, died July 30, 2000 in a Grand Junction, CO care center. She waa born July 19, 1919in Provo to Earlton and Josephine Thomas. She married Marvin Sweat Feb. 26, 1944 in Heber City, he died Dec. 24. 1975. Cleo eryoyed hunting, fishing and wasagreat cook. She wasaschooi bus driver for Duchesne School District for many years. She Lved most of her life in Fruidand, lived in Myton from about 1973-7then in Duchesne until about the mid 80s when she moved to Lome, CO. Cleo is survived by two sons and a daughter, James (Robbie) Sweat, Iicncsne;Kenneth(Faye)Sweat,and Barbara Taylor of Green River, l)T; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by gnat grandson, and 2 brothers, Edmund Thomas and Arnold Tho-- HAVING FUN-Mot- hen keep their children busy by bringing along their toys during the UBIC. from that disaster. The Duchesne Gateway Seniors joined with the Roosevelt Crossroads Seniors on Friday, July 21, and went to Rock Creek for a picnic. It was a lot of fun. Kristy Ivie started a water fight and everyone joined in. The Joe and Roger Claybumi attended a family reunion for Lils family. There were 83 family members in attendance. They came from Arizona, Nevada, Kansas, and Utah. Everyone had a wonderful time. Steven Robert McKinnon, son of Chuck and Loraine McKinnon, married Christy Stewart on July 29. A reception was held for them that evening. Nathan Bench, son of Edwin and Pattie Bench, spoke at his missionary farewell on Sunday, July 30, in the Bridgeland Ward. Nathan has been called to serve in the England South Mission, and will enter the England MTConAug. 2. Sheldon Kargia, son of tyke and Jeannie Kargis, has been called to serve in the Philippines San Pablo Mission. His farewell was held in the Duchesne Stake Center on July 23. a Jennie Merkleys son. He waa stabilised then taken to the LDS Hospital in. Salt Lake for further treatment. A large crowd attended the wedding, reception, and dance at the Defa Dude Ranch Saturday night. Penfield Cora Goodrich Penfield. age 89. of Roosevelt and Neola, died Aug. 3, in the finish Basin Medical Center of natural cauace. She waa born Jan. 9, 1911 in Pocatello, Idaho to David and Nora Sisley Gaines. She married Glen Goodrich in 1939, he died in 1965. She later married Verdon E. Penfield and ha died in 1988. She was a secretary for Moon Lake Electric for marry years, eiypyed Sower and vegetable gardening. She ts survived by a daughter, Pat (Dal) Marx. Elsinore; and son. Lynn (DeeAnn) Goodrich. 'I Esther McFarieneafDucheanespent BlufTdale with her daughter, Phyllis Singleton, and family. Emmett and Dorothy Evans traveled to Preston, Idaho, where they spent two days at a family reunion. They stayed overnight with Dorothys folks, Don and Nona Golightley, in Whitney, Idaho. The Evanses had six grandchildren with them. The Harold Gees left after the Senior Dinner anddrove to Heber where they kept doctors appointments at the Heber Hospital. They woke to Della Turn bow and Theo Lind by phone, then drove on to Sprin grille where they spent the night with their widowed friend, Merle Curtis. All of the mountains east of Provo were on fire. When the Gees got into their car to leave on Friday about 10 their car was covered with ash from the fires. It reminded them of the Senior bus trip they took many years ago to Washington State just after the Ml Saint Helens eruption. The cars and buses were covered with ashes last weekend in Edwin. She came to attend the missionary farewell for her grandson Nathan Bench. Connie Cleave eryoyed a visit from her girlfriend, Charlotte Kellough and Charlotte'a son Jim, of New Mexico. R. Hamblin Russell Deon Hamblin, 48, lost his courageous battle with cancer at home on Saturday morning. Aug. 5, surrounded by his extensive family who truly loved and cherished him. Russell was born Nov. 26, 1951 in Salt Lake City to Jeaae Jones Hamblin and Betty Mott Hamblin. Russell was the 31 of 5 children. On June 27, 1975, be married Sherry DeeGarrow in Salt Lake City. He was a member afihe Church ofJesus Christ ofLatter Day Saints. Russell will be remembered as a courageous man with a kind and wondrous heart He had a great love of family, friends and children of aQ agea. He loved to camp, fish, play and listen to music and perhaps most of all, his love for children. AiW graduating from West High School in 1970, Russell joined the United States Air Foret. He served for four years as a helicopter mechanic stationed in Hawaii. Later he transferred to the Navy, serving as an ElectornicsTsch-nicia- n (ETk His many nieces and nephews fondly remember him ss "Uncle ET. After retiring from the US Navy, Russell and his family returned to Salt Lake and until recently he worked for lha State of ' Utah. ITS as an electronics or microwave installer. Russell's trade mark has always been his keen sense of humor and his quick wiL Russell is survived by his wife. Sherry, his son, Russell Deon Hamblin Jr., his daughters, Katina Anne Hamblin and Bnttnay Mariah Burr Hamblin, all id Salt Lake, hit mother, Betty Donna Mott Hamblin, Duchesne; brothers Ronald (Connie) Hamblin, Denver, CO; Rory (Linda) Hamblin. Evanston, WY; and Rqjrde (Gloria) Hamblin, VernaL Sister, Romania Hamblin, Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He waa preceded in death by his father, Jew Hamblin. Memorial Services will be held a the Pioneer Stake Center, 1401 W. 7 S, on Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 9 10 a.m. Additional services will be held later that day, Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 2 330 p.m. st the Duchesne Slake Center, 901 N. 500 E., in Duchesne.
