The Eagles were in charge from the start with a pass catch by Charlie Fabririo plus a strong running game by Scott Muir and Kendall Despain, which had Juab's defense wanting to board a plane for Spain as the Eagle twosome was a pain to the Nephi rrow, advanced Duchesne into enemy territory during the first drive of the game. Duchesne coughed up the ball, and then MuirfDespain came back with an even more powerful attack as they chewed up the gnAind for large gains throughout the game. A field goal try by Juab wasn't even close. It only jetted a few inches into the air before it bounced on the ground and was no good. Unfortunately the young Eagles found the wrong time to make a miscue when a penalty gave the ball back to Juab, which took advantage with a pass line to Cody J arret t. to the QB Carson Park sewed a few plays with 3:55 to later to put Juab up go in the first quarter. WAY-Duche- snes 2-- Altamont Longhorns drop close game to Gunnison team, 20 to 13 By Aldon Rachtle The Altamont Longhorns haven't won in their first three games of the season, but they have given their opponents a tough battle with their latest dose encounter a 20-1- loss to Gunnison, Friday in an away game. Emery JV nipped the Longhorns in Altamont, 14-1September 4. Altamont opened the season on a 21-1- 4 loss to South Summit's JV. Latex Semi Gloss by Aldon Rachtle Back in the 1960s I received a bunch of toy soldiers, cowboys and Indians (now Native Americana) for Christmas, and at the time my mother, Ann Rachele thought it was a good idea. She figured I would be busy restaging the Battle of Ft. Canon or at least replaying an episode of the world famous TV show called: with all those funny soldiers and warriors. She began to regret her decision when those toy soldiers made her vacuum sound like a machine gun due to being inhaled into the bag and dang their best dusty foxhole imitation. She said, Don't leave your toy soldiers, etc. lying around on the rug. Pick them up. To this day I think those toy soldiers buried themselves in the deep carpet on purpose in order to do an all out assault on the evil empire and were trying to blow away the armor covered vehicle that had a long powerful gun. I thought those toy soldiers were a thing of the past until I thumbed through an Old West magazine, and discovered the stufTia still Big Time to the Toy Soldier Company of New York City. The Toy Soldier Company has the Deluxe Little Big Horn set with 430 plus pieces on special for $279.00. The set has 281 mounted and dismounted cavalrymen, Indians, 93 horses, an ambulance (nice touch-Do-n't know if they had one available in the original battle), tepees, etc. There is no mention of whether or not small scale versions ofGeneral George Custer or Sitting Bull are part of the deal. If money is no problem then for $479 a person can restage the Battle of the Alamo without any help from John Wayne with 260 Mexican Infantry, cavalry, artillerymen plus 137 Texans and a replica of the Alamo. Don't know if Jim Bowie (Not Sam the basketball player) or Davey Crockett small versions are included. Reenacting little Big Horn and the Battle at the Alamo might be fun, but how about doing a football theme with tiny Union football play era taking the place of those toy soldiers. The Union championship battle against Wasatch for the 1993 State Title could be restaged. A small version of the University of Utah's Rice Stadium could be included as it was the site of thecham pionship game. There would be little Cougars in Black and Gold such mom unhappy. Duchesne had a break finally go its way when a penalty against Juab gave the Eagles the ball back after a punt, and DespainMuir made the local team purr by advancing Duchesne all the way down to the Juab 23 midway in the fourth quarter. Eagle fans were getting excited in the stands, but the hopes and wishes for a Duchesne win died due to some fins defensive plays that knocked down passes and then several first downs by Juab that clobbered the clock, which allowed them to escape from town with a 12-- win.
