Brewer e Episcopal Church PROJECT COMPLETED-Mkha- el Douglas Olson, grandson of Jon Horton, editor of Outlaw Trail holds a copy of the new book, "A History of Uintah County - Scratching the Surface," written by Doris Kairen Burton, Uintah County Historian. Centennial history of Uintah Co. off the press The Utah State Legislature established in 1991 a Centennial History Project to write and publish county histories as part of the Utahs Statehood Centennial (1896-199commemoration. Uintah County now celebrates the completion or their part in this project with the new bode, A History of Uintah County -Scratching the Surface." The author, Doris Karren Burton who is die Uintah County Historian, used the phrase "scratching the surface" to describe that the Indians scratched the history onto the rocks thousands of yean ago and that she as an author, was only able to scratch the 6) surface of the unique history of Uintah County. The book covers the settlement of the county including Ute Indians, trappers, outlaws, traders and white settlers, both Mormon end Many historical photos are included and the bode examines the growth and development of the area. This 446 page hardback book may be purchased exclusively from the Uintah County Library at 155 East Main Street, Vernal, Utah 84078 for $19.96. Oraig Terry, son of Linda and Tim Terry has been called by the Lord to serve in the Canary Islands (Spain, Las Palmas Mission).
