The prize all expense-pai- d is a three-wee- k study tour of Germany. This year marked the magic number of one million students ut z, COURT ACTION-Duchc- snc High School students recently took part in a student court where they worked on the citizenship program and learned the law process. Michele is the daughter of Steve and Consuelo Sweat of Fruitland. The program begins on June 16, 1996 in Washington, D.C. where the winners will meet their congressional representatives on Capitol Hill, ana attend briefings n relations at the on State Department and at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in preparation for their trip. In Germany, the group will spend time touring famous German landmarks meeting ut non-prof- ut and their counterparts, and visiting some of Tage Talc With school almost out, the last couple weeks arc always hectic with a lot going on. All the students who made the citizenship or academic honor rolls for three quarters of the year were given the opportunity to miss a day of school and go on the Honor Sneak to Lagoon. There were two busses full of students that went Thankyou Team DHS for helping with lunch for every student, and thankyou for all youve done this year. Everyone had a fun lime at Lagoon. On May 14, a memorial was held for three Duchesne students who have passed away within the last couple years. Robert Johnson, Andrea and Eddie Lupoid, Johansen's families each got to plant a tree in their memory. A plaque was later cemented in next to each tree. The Duchesne choir sand a song and principal, Dennis Ercanbreck said a few words. The last week of school always seems to be exciting and busy with everyone looking forward to summer. This is what will be happening at school the last few days: On Wednesday 29, there will be the annual awards program at 1:15 p.m. That night will be the yearbook social at 7 p.m. Students will be able to pick up their yearbooks and have people sign them. Thursday 30, will be the check out day for 7th -- 11th grades. There video assembly will be the year-en- d at 12 noon, and after lunch movies will be playing and yearbook signing inside for those who dont want to water fight Graduation is that night at 6 p.m. with a dance at 9 p.m. and the all night Senior Lock-i- n party following. Friday is the annual Senior-Faculsoft ball game at 9 a.m. The pool will also be rented from that morning. The barbecue will be from 11 to 12 and the busses will run at 12, noon. The award was presented by John Foster, Counselor & German in a ceremony at teacher, Duchesne High School. "We have been entering this contest for years," said Foster. "I was so excited we won I could hardly believe it. And were delighted to have a student the caliber of Michele Sweat representing our school."
