Page IS 1996- - Rally Kills Union Two-O- ut Cougars whip 1995 champ, but settle for second place By Aldon Rachelt The Union Cougars can taka pride in the fact that they whipped two-tim- defending e state, champion, Dixie, 13-- Friday, but they are hanging their heads in sadness over letting Uintah wake up from the baseball dead, Friday, for an 7 win in ten innings after Union led 3 with two outs in the final inning. Uintah used the amazing comeback win to crush Cedar City, Friday, 12-- 0 and then stun the Cougars, Saturday, for the State Baseball Tournament title in St. George. Union was forced to settle for second place, which is actually the Cougars best finish ever at a '3-State Baseball Tournament Union won state baseball crowns in 1988 and 1989. Cougar fans will remember the Dreadful Bottom Of Tie Seventh Inning" just like one of those Dracula Vampire Movies" as it drove a "Stake Through The Hearts" of Union's championship hopes. The Cougars took out. their frustrations over the loss to Uintah on Dixie, defending champion, who they beat in a late after Friday afternoon game, 13-erupting for a 13--1 advantage through 4 2 innings. Parker Morrill, a sophomore, started the game on the mound for ' the Cougars. He gave up just one run cm three hits in four innings. He tired in the fifth and was replaced by Jackson Dye. Craig Marx, also, pitched for Union. The Cougars scored 13 runs on 16 hits and had zero errors. Dixie scored six runs on 11 hits and four errors.
