Aa an introduction to aerospace education, atudenta at Eaat Elementary School had the oppor- tunity to learn about hot air bal-loon as they watched Rex inflate, launch and pilot hi Jen-nin- ga Firefly 7 hot air balloon. How waa the balloon inflated? A gas powered Can forced cold air inside the balloon a faculty mem- bers held open the throat of the balloon envelope. FBLA officers go to meeting On September 17 the UBATC Chapter of Future Busineea Leaders of America officers attended the 1994 Chapter Leadership Institute' at Utah Valley State College. They had meetings and activities on improving your chapter and the duties of each officer. Afterwards, they attended a banquet and listened to business Isadora from neighboring colleges. On September 29 members met at the FBLA Opening Social. How does the pilot steer the balloon? Ha doesnt It drifts with the wind and goes aa fast aa the wind. Mr. Jennings changed directions by changing the altitude of . the balloon. The only control a pilot has over the balloon ie up and down. Do you know where you are ' going to land? You don't The skill of piloting is in finding the altitude at which the wind is blowing that will taka you in the direction you want to go. This balloon had a "(has crew, which followed us on the ground. The pilot kept in touch with Mr. Chambers, the echool principal, by means of a two way radio.
